Ideally, I want someone who is mid-40s or younger, who runs the same or very similar system as the Rams/Coen (wide zone, bunch formations, playaction, etc.) with some connections to the SEC/South/UK and/or recruiting area (MI, OH, NC, TX, PA, etc.). A pro system that's successful will keep the momentum going both for the team and for recruiting. New OL coach reassured everyone that the next OC will be cut from the same cloth - I hope he's right.

Cutcliffe is too old and I don't know the system he runs.

Supposedly Stoops is gonna target another NFL guy. Worked out last time. If he went the college route, I wonder if he would take a look at Western Ky's OC

My people are telling me that the Rams really never won. It’s was a stolen rigged witch-hunt. Ya know you look at Matt Stafford and you tell me he’s great, but honestly I’ve only seen him loose. Now your gonna tell me he won a super bowl?I like my QB hero’s to not have an overall loosing record, but that’s just me.

Petrino 2022

Did the crack you got in SEKY have fentanyl laced in it?

No, I'm not talking about that. Bobby Petrino should go nowhere near a Kentucky football facility.
Agreed. Total joke,.... Petrino is not a joking matter. Ironically Joker is a more palatable joke. Also for the record I am strongly against motorcycle accidents. I’m probably more against motorcycle accidents than anyone on the internet.

You may say well he just isn’t head coach material, but remember this… Dan has lost a lot to us. I don’t want that loser on our sideline.

Go get Joe Brady.
That is what I'm saying. I am not sure how the Sean Payton philosophy differs from McVay.....but they both do run the ball along with throwing. Also, that one year he had at LSU was the best offense in history of college football. I think he's still unemployed from losing his job with Panthers....He'd at least be in the top of list candidates to call.

The biggest problem I see with Brady is that UK would not be a destination job for him at all. We'd probably only have him for one year and then we'd be back in the hunt for the next OC. While that may be the case with others on the list, I would think certainly Brady would be very much one-foot-out-the-door the day he set foot on campus.

Also, with his relatively mediocre results with the Panthers, how much can we attribute LSU's offense to Brady and how much to the embarrassing riches of talent they had on that team - Burrow, Chase, Edwards-Helaire, J. Jefferson, etc.? Brady's system brought out the best of their talent but, goodness, in many of their games a complete noob could've called plays and been pretty darn successful. Coen's system, especially the last half of the season, seemed to be able to scheme our talent open and not just rely on studs like a Ja'Marr Chase to just be that much better than the defender. And I loved Wan'dale and think he's definitely an NFL talent. He's not Ja'Marr Chase, though.

1. let's be fair...if Stoops wants to run these type of NFL offenses....he's going to shopping on NFL coaching ranks as it just appears to be about 90% read option type attacks in college ranks for other offensive units.
2. As far as Joe Brady goes....I get alot of NFL guys on that LSU roster but they were all basically on the same roster the year prior to him getting there and Burrow's numbers were very pedestrian. I mean the guy made a huge difference and LSU's offense after his departure has been pretty poor.
3. I guess we'd be able to pay a ton more to Joe Brady as OC than Bills pay him as QB coach....but does Joe Brady really want to be a college coach is hard call.

I think your first point really does play into this quite a bit for Stoops and makes the new higher a little more complicated. One of his checkpoints has to be finding someone that he thinks will spend a few years here.

You're right, but I have no idea who we would go after. NFL is such a snore fest to me and I haven't watched in close to 15 years so I dont even know any of the coaches without googling. I didn't even know the Bengals were in the super bowl until this thread.

Having said that, it worked out this past time. And I do know who Joe Brady is and he would be a slam dunk if we could get him.

Seriously?

Why not stay on the path Coen started?
This is what I think happens . It’s one thing to change coaches every year , it’s a completely different animal to change schemes every year. Coach Stoops is on record after hiring Coen saying he wanted someone that ran the McVay offense . I think he was happy with the results and dont see any reason he would move away from that now .

Exactly...and guys like Levis, the WR portal transfers, Dane Key, Barion Brown...the speedster WR kids....they are all being recruited for a scheme. To even think of reverting back to a read option/QB run heavier load is a total backwards step to me....

I never get the kind of OL for this offense vs. read option/inside zone...which one is more suitable. But I'm sure there is even an eye for the type of OL we recruit for this system. So I'd be shocked to see us go iwth a Dan Mullen, etc...kind of person to replace Coen.

And some people are still thinking we might bring in an “air raid“ guy . People are crazy, lol .

I’m with you. Honestly, I havent seen ANY reason to switch to the much talked about “outside zone “ blocking scheme. Give me a physical , tackle breaking back like Crod any day. Picking up tough yards , especially in short yardage situations seems to be very underrated these days.

I know....some fans are the nuttiest of them all. People have literally (and not all were joking) brought up Eddie Gran, Joker Phillips, then a few air raid guys, then the worst human being in the world with Bobby Petrino, along with read option guys. It's like WTH are you people even thinking. While we are at it...why not some wishbone pure options guys from Barry Switzer era.🤬
