Offensive coordinator and quarterback

Why does the offensive coordinator stand at the opposite end of the sideline as his quarterback ? It would seem you would as OC,want to discuss/strategize/evaluate with your quarterback ,what's working,what's not,and what to change. Sideline activity has a lot of wasted time,with poor communication!
