i always liked the story about the governor of Louisiana, huey long, being told he couldn't add to Tiger Stadium due to the depression and need for resources elsewhere, so he built dorms and put bleachers on top to expand the stadium (which he wanted) and fulfill his obligation to student housing (which the legislature approved).

At one point MSU and South Carolina had a garden hose with holes cut into it in the men's restroom that they hung on the wall. You would walk up and piss into a yellow wall! Class all the way.
