He’s talking about currently, he won’t recruit 5 stars. That wasn’t always his philosophy, and certainly wasn’t his philosophy at all prior to this year. So you don’t get to use his prior conference titles as some sort of chest thumping evidence. Rick’s philosophy now is he won’t recruit frosh, period. Doesn’t matter their rankings. He wants guys with experience.

The closest to healthy (and we weren’t) was the first game…and we played with them just fine. Matter of fact, we led the majority of that game. The last 2 games we’ve been at our weakest and the mismatches w Perry and Noah bd their backcourt is too much

Were he saying it in a press conference then that’s something different and worthy of scorn.
We aren’t used to being on the other side of games like that, and it shows. Lots of our fans still routinely bring up fond memories of the Pitino teams looking to completely crush the competition instead of relaxing once they got a lead, but there’s another side to those games and we were on the receiving end this time. I’m hopeful that we’ll be back in a position where teams can’t do this to us soon between recruiting and better injury luck. For last night though, no offense taken for Oats motivating his team and letting his bench play offense aggressively.

Seems to be mostly excuses every year now. Some players don’t pan out, aren’t playing well. Always will be a couple injuries. Next March the exact same situation will unfold.

Oats is right. WITHOUT Jaxson Robinson, Kerr Kriisa & Lamont Butler we can't play with them. Give us a healthy team & take 3 of Alabama's top 8 players including 2 starters out of their lineup & see who can't play with who
Not trying to defend the Ala player but it truly was a basketball play. Nothing dirty. In the moment of the play it was all in one motion trying to get the shot up.
We are playing with 67% of the guys we brought in to be contributors this year.
Take Sears, Nelson and Philon off them and see how they do (probably not as well as we have).
Bama is my favorite to win the NCAA. They have three guards that would start over any of our guys. Plus two to three wings that are athletic as hell and streaky shooters. We are the walking wounded. Pope better get some more Oweh type players that can actually shoot. The only three players that even belonged on that floor last night was Williams, Carr, and Oweh. Oates is a prick but he is right, we couldn’t play with them.
yeah thats why they only beat us by 5 earlier on. If you take 2 of his starters and his main back up pg hed be lucky to win 8 games. I notice not you but tons of Cal lovers come over here after every loss and talk crap about coach and players. Those fans should follow Calipari, stay away from Kentucky. If Oates, Pearl or Cal had 2 starters out and Cal has the results wouldn't be pretty. This year is the last year with the 5th year guys Pearl and Oates got lucky with but I bet you they choke like usual in the tournament.
Pearl does nothing but give respect to Kentucky. He has talked glowingly about the UK his entire time at Auburn. All of it is well deserved. I know most of this board is not a fan of Pearl, but he is not close to Oats. Nate is pissed they did not score 100 last night and believe he tried. Hell of the coach, but is all about Nate.
