Now middling players are opting out.

7-5 >>> 4-8. Prove me wrong.
So in your way of thinking expectations don't have any place in determining a good year from a bad year ? You think Alabama fans are happy with 2 losses and no title hopes ? Conversely Vandy fans may be enthusiastic ... expectations should figure in to whether a team had a bad year , decent year ( us barely ??) or a good year . There , I proved you wrong.

OP creates thread about how sucky it is that a guy that was no standout for our team is going to skip a Ky game in a bowl , to go do whatever it is that he cant do while preparing for a bowl game in 2 weeks , or he's afraid he will get hurt . Now how that tranlates to the OP " obviously doesnt know sports " is obviously a stupid take . Many dont support this move of Valentines , , so why bet on constant attack mode against other posters , esp when they take a position many hold ? Message board warriors , " my view is the only one " type fools .

I feel sorry for the people who race to bet bowl games trying to get the best jump on a line. Learned my lesson several years ago when this stuff started happening. Upper-SEC teams who don’t make the *CFP are usually gutted from opt-outs and “injuries”. It’s working its way to the UKs of the world.

I felt very good about Iowa from the jump. A point or two won’t make a difference. We are TOAST. Iowa + OVER.
This is why the smart money comes in on the bet late. I do not bet on sports because there are always these unknowns.

middling? Valentine is rated as the number 14 corner for this draft just off his tape. He could rise a lot higher via testing and the combine. There is a very good chance he's a better pro than C-Rod
I think the point is that it used to be a few top 10 picks that pulled out but we’ve gotten to where people who might be a fifth rounder opts out.

It's weird people acting confident that UK will lose.

Iowa's offense is worst than ours and they will be on their 3rd string QB. Iowa is having players opt out just like us.

This game could go either way, that's why the spread is so low.

well, to that point, it's ironic these same fans complaining about it, are the fans that are also trashing the bowl game as meaningless.... I mean, you cant have it both ways. I digress, he is preparing for his career. I wish him well

I didn’t say we had a good year. I said 7-5 and a measly bowl is still better than 4-8.

Whatever you say senior.

He’s going in the draft so I don’t have a big problem with it. You may disagree he’s ready for draft but decision not to play is no surprise. I don’t mind honestly gives us a chance to play some guys who will return and evaluate.

I understand Levis, he's a sure fire first rounder. The others are head scratchers.

After the expansion of the CFP to 12 teams, I would imagine other bowls will quickly cease to exist. Just not enough player interest, which then lowers fan interest.

This is very true. It's already this way with 4 to me. I watch some of the new years 6 and the UK game but otherwise it's a bloated and archaic form of a postseason.

The playoff is the postseason in all other major sports at the college and pro level. Division 1 football has been way behind getting with the 20th and 21st century. 12 is a good number but I'd like that doubled in 10 years. Then everyone that finishes top 25 (minus 25th ranked) gets a chance to compete for a national title.

You can keep all the boring bowls for the purists and old school types. It's football so ratings will remain solid.

There is virtually zero interest in all-star games yet they don’t go away. There is air time that has to be filled and as long as college football draws a better audience than any of the other available options, it will continue to exist.

I'd rather my last game be a win over Louisville than a loss in a garbage bowl game where your team leader isn't even showing up for.
