Notes from Wright State

First game at Rupp in a year. Here's what I saw:

Wright States coach should be applauded. He threw all kinds of different defenses at the Cats and it clearly bothered them I expect we will see lots of 1-2-2, 3-2 and 1-3-1 zones this year

The team was clearly sleepwalking through this game. Big comedown from Duke win. Matthews brought the most energy. Even Lee was not himself

The bigs will not be scoring inside this year. Wright State pushed Skal and Marcus all over the place. This would have been a good game for Humphries to bang around in

Ulis is a stud. What more can you say? I really like Briscoe's game. Great defender

What the hell was all the fouls? It was a horrible horrible game to sit through. We left with 5 min to go, got our car, went through town, hit 64 and was closing in on Mt a sterling before game was over. Too many damn whistles

I'll make a prediction. Our consecutive 3 pointer a game streak will end this season. We aren't taking that many

Overall one of the worst games I've ever watched live at Rupp. No energy from the players or fans and 50 fouls called

I'll make a prediction...our consecutive 3 pointer streak will NOT end this season. I admire your bold prediction, but just have to disagree. Ulis and/or Murray will hit at least one per game worst case.

Other than that, I mostly agree. I did not see the game live...and only watched the first half last night from my recording. 2nd half was a foul fest early on and I read it did not get any better. I think the bigs will get better though, still early in the season.

Cal plays for the foul line. I don't always think it's necessary, but that's what's Stalling the game up. I understand but I just like to see some freedom of play. College basketball needs to make a change but I will say the shot clock being shortened has definitely freed it up somewhat.

Yea it's not going to happen. We are going to be a solid three point shooting team. It's just not there right now, and Cal isn't wanting a bunch of threes at this point. He's still trying to get some of his best players to be aggressive.
