Not surprising. Mitchell Robinson bolts WKU again

Sounds like someone has an agent already and is taking early benefits. Should not surprise anyone in today's recruiting game.

Sounds like the Cam Reddish situation with him hanging out with LeBron James and his agent. You already know if he committed to UK the NCAA would be all over it until at least October of next year. Not a peep about it when committed to Duke.

Maybe, but he's being idiotic. You have the opportunity to make millions and millions of dollars within 1 year and all you have to do is go to class (they will be easy classes ) and pass a couple tests all the while being a rock star on campus.

Decisions decisions ... lol smh

If he is as good as touted, he will still make bank soon. If I could have skipped school for a year and still made a few mill, I would have jumped at that chance.

Hell I still wake up in the middle of the night thinking I forgot to write a paper or finish an assignment. 25 years later lol.

Yeah, but keyword is IF. Why risk it? NBA execs already saying he's a red flag and "not that good" whatever , he could have made quite a name for
Himself at A&M or WKU. He was already boterlinde lottery on draft boards. He will fall hard in the rankings and he's risking becoming irrelevant with all the drama

You're butchering the position.

They are enslaved victims preyed upon by the masses for entertainment.

Watched him play a few games on TV and was impressed with his play. All the time wondering why some of the big schools were not in the running for him & why pick Western. Got to be something wrong somewhere.

If this is the only red flag after teams investigate him, they'll take him.

If they uncover more, he could slip into the second round.

I wouldn't touch him. You've gotta be elite to keep pulling this shit off.

I am a state employee. He will still make more than me.

This was always my concern with at-will transfers. Will turn into a ****show.

Eh, I'm still for non sitting transfers, but I think they have to finish their semester in good standing and not leave at the drop of the hat like him

Will never stop there. The problem with allowing it is where does it end? There are tons of people waiting to chip off the next piece.

A one year rule is appropriate.

I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. I wasn't very mature in my teens, didn't really get it together till I was 21 or so.

It's always the college educated that ends up devaluing the perception of their degree, while making a living for their family because of the degree.

I know it's off point, but it always strikes me as odd.

Agreed. And I mean the dude will probably still make more $$ than a lot of us by playing overseas but sheesh. He would have had an EXCELLENT chance at getting multi millions / lottery $ or at that very least a couple mil by going in the first round had he just stuck with either A&M, WKU or even LSU. Hell even nawlins

But with the only *real* press he's getting as of late (head case . Red flag , commiting and decomitting from like 9 schools etc) he's taking a big chance by just "Training" for a year. At least Mudiay for example had some media love etc and went to an overseas team that paid him nearly $ 1 million for 8 months

A very big head scratcher. Even more so because you'd think after he de committed from WKU the first time and then getting ANOTHER chance from wku/ stansbury he'd be like "damn ok , I'm pretty lucky to have not screwed this up entirely , im just gonna do what I gotta do for 9 months then make my millions, get me a new escalade, nice house and potentially be set for life"

But instead ....

Being WKU's far and away biggest star-athlete, where the competition is low-enough that they should walk to the tournament.. I'm not sure life gets any easier than that single year. You first year of freedom to party and be away from your parents, with the above setup?! That's a dream.

I'm 5'11, Irish with bad skin and almost no athletic ability, and even I had girls doing my papers and helping with homework (they were far from 10's, no shame). There's no way this kid has to do any work if he doesn't want to.

THIS. Not saying he's gonna be some NBA all star but he would have been a King on that campus , potentially put up super good numbers and get a lot of nice press / carry them to the tournament. Would have been HIS team

A silly silly , ignorant decision on his part. I hope for his sake it's not some handlers in his ear trying to take advantage of him

Absolute $hit show. As a WKU alum, this is miserable. Was very much looking forward to the basketball season for the Tops. Now, it'll be interesting.

His mentor, Shammond Williams who ironically went to UNC, was on the staff at WKU when he committed. Then all of the sudden in July, he resigned which likely set the drama going forward. I dont know why Williams resigned, but it seemed fishy since it was abrupt. The other assistant also resigned as well I believe. The issue of Robinson actually showing up had gone on since then. There is an article on the Bowling Green Daily News website if you google Shammond Williams.
