I’m not sure why but Oweh has been our leading scorer 4 times against power 5 teams and we’ve lost all 4 games.
The only game we’ve won with Oweh leading us in scoring was our first game against Wright State.

Oweh is our leading scorer on the season. He's obviously been our most consistent scorer on the season. I think that's just a weird and random statistic. Although it does stand to reason we are a more dangerous team when we have a guy like Robinson go off and score 20+

Not really a comment against Oweh, because he's been pretty steady. It's more a commentary when our other guys are struggling to score.

Perhaps, but how do you say " ok Otega slow it down a notch".

This is kind of like the stat I saw on another thread that said based on analytics Oweh is a net - when he's on the floor. Sometimes numbers do lie.

Seems like he is the guy that takes it upon himself when things get tight. Whether that’s Pope’s plan or not IDK but Oweh is definitely not afraid.

Well Oweh is the only player that he can get his own. He is our leading scorer and most reliable player. Most respect the way he plays and handle himself.

This actually makes sense.
Why? Oweh has proven he will get 10+ every game. But what about everyone else? If someone else leads us in scoring that means we had at least 2 guys getting us points. If Oweh leads us, then maybe he was the only one.

I think it just means that our other scorers were struggling. It seems that when we are hitting threes with Robinson and Brea, then Oweh comes up big late with his rebounding, defense and hustle.

That is a product of all of the parts contributing their best elements to make a better whole.
Partially this, Oweh does not rely on the three to get his points. if he's the leading scorer it usually means we are not shooting well across the board.

I think it's this more than anything else.... Otega has been the most consistent scorer for our team. We need all the other guys to step up and provide that balanced attack. When we lose the balance, it makes winning so much more difficult for this team, conversely, when the other guys aren't on, it makes it easier to beat us.

Not like that is saying anything substantive, really.

But I can't cherry pick a stat like that and equate it to why we've lost. Sometimes stats are deceiving. And even though we lost all those games where the opposition had made a bacnked in three point shot, the irony of that is that it happened for Tennessee and they lost.

haha ! Beautiful.

but yeah, even though I'm not superstitious, some things where it comes concerning UK basketball, I do tend to get superstitious about ...

When Oweh is leading us in scoring that usually means an off night shooting the 3. When Robinson, Butler, or Brea go off from deep and Oweh is getting his 10 to 20 that offense is really working. If the 3 is not falling, then Oweh is carrying the team and they're not scoring at the pace they need to score at.

Why would we ever think Oweh is the problem, because he's doing what he's supposed to do? It would be something if Oweh was a ball hog, but he's not.
What this means is, the other guys had off games and didn't do their part.

Butler can get his own as well when he’s healthy.
Yeah, I don't understand why we have so many fans that say we don't have anyone that can create their own shot, or we only have 1 guy. What are they watching?
Andrew Carr created his own shots time and time again against duke and Gonzaga, Butler does it multiple times a game, Oweh is now driving and dunking on guys, Brea has created his own shots at times and even Amari Williams will do it.
Fact is, we have more guys that can create their own shot against really good defenses than most teams have. I'm not sure what our fans are looking for, this isn't the NBA.

I don’t understand how those +/- minus stats correlate since there are 5 players on the court at a time in random combinations against random combinations of 5 players of the opposing team.

What this tells me is that he is consistent and our other guys have been off those nights, leading to our losses.

I shudder to think where we'd be without Otega. He wasn't a go to guy at OU, but his highlights suggested he could be a guy for us. I just didn't think he'd be THE guy. He's a baller and he gets what it is to put it all out on the line for the Blue and White. He's exceeded my expectations and then some. I love Otega and hope he's here next season.

The strangest thing about Oweh: I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a player at UK miss so many shots within 4 to 6 feet so badly. He shooting at a decent clip from deep and from the foul line and his mid-range jumper percentage is probably around 50%. Obviously, when he’s close enough to dunk, he dunks on and through people.

But it seems like if he puts a shot up from close range it’s either an airball or it gets nothing but the backboard. If he’s ever going to sniff the NBA or even be a more complete scorer at this level, he needs to learn how to finish close range shots that aren’t quite close enough to be dunks.

He's shooting exactly 50% from the field. You have no idea what you're talking about.
