Is there anybody out there like me that believes that both of them are going to escape sanctions or punishment on their latest scandals...? I especially think North Carolina will because they are the baby darlings of the NCAA & ESPN and they are almost a for certain Final Four and probably national championship team... this would be so pathetic and such a shame and a sham...

Louisville will face punishment. I'm really not sure about UNC. It is the worst scandal in the history of college sports, but unless you are a UK, Duke, or NC State fan, people know absolutely nothing about it. UNC fans will not acknowledge it. Every single one, to a tee, says "it was all football and women's basketball. It had nothing to do with the mens basketball team." Totally brainwashed, every one of them.

This country is very media driven, and public reaction can really shape what happens. There has been no media outcry about the UNC scandal, therefore no public outcry. I can really see the NCAA just not even acknowledging what happened at UNC, and after a period of time UK, Duke, and NC State fans will be looked at as conspiracy theorists by other sports fans when we talk about this scandal. People will forget all about it. We've watched this unfold every step of the way and it couldn't be more clear the lengths UNC and ESPN has gone to, to make sure that it gets swept under the rug. The NCAA has let UNC thumb their noses at them too, that's the most egregious part. The NCAA has sat idly by and let UNC loophole their way out this scandal.

This is a process, trust me...both are going to get hit, hard.

Just because you don't hear anything doesn't mean sh*t, they don't disclose findings until everything is complete. For UNC this goes back several years, takes time to fully investigate

Think UNC Is hoping they get that one NC this year because a lot of people feel like the stall will be over and they will have to face the music. They have been playing a little Phil Ford 4 corners, many think they are trying to get through this year and in their minds win the NC and Ole Roy can walk and they can deal with it than.

Too much shish to wipe under the rug,

Many feel like there is no way they can keep letting it slide.
UL, I think is going to be forced to face their demons rather quickly after this year, many feel like there is a lot stuff that has not even scratched service and that the lady and the writer has a lot more floating around.
IMO

Take this for what its worth but on KSR a few weeks ago Matt said that UNC may get by without sanctions because they technically didn't break any NCAA rules. That the NCAA doesn't really Monitor what happens once a player gets on campus, they only really regulate how you get them on campus. However if proven that UofL has recruiting violations then they will be hit very hard. Paraphrasing of course, this was a few weeks ago.

Edit: Of course the UNC fan has to like this post! For the record, I truly believe that their transgressions are far worse the UofL's and that they should be given the death penalty for their disgusting actions.

It's like I said, the NCAA is gladly letting UNC exploit loopholes.

unc is going to skate, obviously. it's disgusting

not quite as bad as them giving scholarships back to penn state, where students chant the name of a dead man who sat in a room and tried to figure out how to protect his own legacy instead of child rape victims, but about as anything else. a decade or more of academic fraud and fundamental dishonesty from people who thought they were better than everybody else

bilas is the hero of some uk fans, and i can't recall hearing much from him on this subject

mcgee is wearing a pitino shirt in the photo with katina powell. that and 1-8 are good enough for me

UNC is the worst of any school in the history of the NCAA and it's not close. There is nothing worse than having fake classes, fake grades and a cover up going back every coach to Dean Smith. This is the worst of the worst.

UL having 50 prostitutes on a visit is not even close to academic fraud. This is a disgrace to school, it is a crime to do that to the kids. I mean it is abuse.
How can you look at a diploma and accept it with what went on. It is a disgrace.
UNC should be shut down. UL is a minor blimp compared to the UNC shenanigans.

If uncheat skates, what precedent does that set for the meaning of "student" athlete? It opens up a can of worms for the NCAA there. Other schools could then cite that as a way to keep playing borderline-eligible athletes who should have flunked out. Clear case for the NCAA to lay down punishment, or look out for what may come. It could be a defining moment for the NCAA. Lets hope they make the right, just choice.

If the banners dont come down then I wont feel like justice has been served, and I dont think that will happen, so in my opinion nothing will happen. Window dressing only.

The NCAA should have to go ahead and give the punishment to both teams if they're gonna do it. Louisville not so much but North Carolina has a chance to compete for the championship this year and it's not right for the NCAA to allow them to have a chance to win the championship this year then right after the season say we can't do nothing about this year's banner but next year your banned from the tournament (or whatever they decide to do to them). Obviously the NCAA has made up their minds about how both schools will be penalized and it should be announced right away.

Honest Roy must be worried about something. Looks 20 years older than he is.

They both will get sanctions - but will seem like a slap on the wrist relative to the allegations for each.

For UNC, this thing will be deemed "mostly" an academic scandal. To the extent it bleeds over into athletics, men's basketball will be at the bottom of that list.

For uofl, not certain what will happen, but I'd bet a decent sum that i) They won't take the banner down and ii) Pitino will still be there next year. Anything else is small potatoes anyway.....

NCAA doesn't operate that way when it comes to Dook and UNCheat.

Anytime you see something drag out for an extended period of time with no repercussions it usually will just go away, I was involved in a court case once that drug out for five years till finally a watered down settlement was reached, every time the case came before the judge the other Lawyer would ask for more time for discovery. The longer this drags out the better for UNC people will lose interest and move on to something else.

LOIC - they had a total of how many?

They will not skate, and this titles along with the secretive transcripts should be exposed for what they are: a total scheme veered at creating bogus student-athletes.

Southern Miss will not escape penalty.
Missouri will not escape penalty.
UNC has the only administrative staff in the entire country that refuses to acknowledge their cheating ways.

Michigan didn't admit anything either, and they got punished harshly.
Memphis lost a huge piece of their success because of one 'questionable' test.

UNC will lose wins in several sports minimum and the banners should be in question if those transcripts are loaded with too many 'electives'.

The NCAA is a joke. I don't think the penalties will be too bad unfortunately. Far as I'm concerned Penn State shouldn't have a football team and Syracuse shouldn't have a basketball team. It doesn't get any worse than what they did. Those programs should've got the death penalty.

IF unc wins the NC ths year before a decision is made there WILL NOT be any sanctions against them

5 charges of LOIC.

I hope you're right, but how are you so confident that this will be the outcome?

The only people taking the above mentioned scandals seriously is, well, mainly our own fans. Keep wishing is all I can tell ya!

What louisville did was uncalled for. While UNC will get away with what they did (it's not a NCAA matter) they say. I'm for sure ul will get hit and they better get hit hard.

UNC program and fans are laughing at people who think they will get hit. UNC is the LAW

I still believe that there will be a backlash if the NCAA lets UNC off.

You don't think that Cal and some schools that have been punished severely before are watching this?

What about Minnesota?

They have been punished for academic fraud before.

I think that schools will resist the NCAA at every turn if they don't get this right and eventually the NCAA will seize to exist.

The NCAA would LOVE to ignore this, but I don't think they can.

have been saying this since '11 i think it was. i still think it will be the reality. it's a sports driven scandal. the cheating was done to gain advantages on the court and on the field. for recruits...that didn't want to do school work. the sad thing is we don't know if they wanted to or not, but it was sold to them as incentive.

I believe most of the NCAA's time right now is try to figure out how to let UNCheat off as easy as possible, not sure about U of Smell , I think they will get hit fairly hard.
