Looking at the roster, the Tar Heels have a roster in 2016 that is akin to UK's roster in 2015. A difference is that they will largely be a junior-senior laden team. They have to be the prohibitive, overwhelming, favorite to win the title in 2016.
A couple of questions in that regard:
1) Will there be 40-0 talk about the Tar Heels like there was for the Cats?
I predict that we won't hear all of the 40-0 talk even though their chances of doing so are about as good as UK's was this season. I also predict that the Tar Heels will win it all in 2016 even though they have not been to the F4 since 2009 when they won the championship that year. UNC has been to 3 F4's since 2005, but have won the title on 2 of those trips.
2) Will they have a mass exodus of players leaving for the NBA next year like the Cats. DraftExpress has 8 Tar Heels projected to be drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds (when you add Meeks back in who they currently have listed in the 2015 draft). Given the high number of seniors and juniors, one would assume yes ... but will that actually occur?
Perhaps a better question to ask is, why didn't they have any players leave for the NBA this year? 8 future projected NBA players ... and all return to UNC.
The result?
We will see, but 2016 looks awfully good for the Tar Heels.
EDIT .... just saw where J.P. Tokoto has opted to leave early ... that makes my post above not quite so accurate now.
