I listen to the college shows on Sirius every morning. Nobody ever mentions Kentucky. They even mention teams like Miss St and Vanderbilt often, but never talk about Kentucky. Hopefully, they'll have to start talking about us.
Yep...the past couple of years, Cal was puckered so tight going into the tournament that the players picked up on it and puckered too.Good. Under the radar a bit. Play free and loose. I like it.
I’d love to see how those metrics compare to how efficient a team was at the end of the season vs the beginning. I’m sure there’s a lot of teams that have gotten infinitely better on defense (top 15 the last 8 games is pretty good for our boys) but perhaps for a lot of teams over the years, that’s not the case. Just inconsistent for the whole year.I think it’s fair though. We have lost our second leading scorer for the remainder of the season. Most people recognize that our team is very dangerous but probably doesn’t meet the criteria to win a championship this year. Get to the second weekend and I think reasonable fans will be elated. We also don’t meet the defensive efficiency metric requirement that the last 22 champions have met and analytic-minded people will eliminate us from the conversation there. Let’s enjoy the ride, y’all because sadly there aren’t many games left
JimboBBN, I love your enthusiasm but let's be real. What team has cut the nets down that was not as good as our team? I don’t think we are winning a title with this group, but they are playing their best basketball of the year right now. We’ve proven we can beat elite teams without Jax, too. Worst teams have cut down the nets than this group. I can’t wait to see what they’ve got.
I believe this years Ky team is better than 2014 UConnJimboBBN, I love your enthusiasm but let's be real. What team has cut the nets down that was not as good as our team? I'm curious.
The metric in referring to has nothing to do with how you are playing right now though. No team in the last 22 years has won a national title with a sub-44 defensive efficiency rating in KenPom at the start of the tournament. None of that is to say we aren’t playing well or can’t make a run. We could theoretically still enter the tournament with a top 44 defense if we go on an absolute tear in the SEC tournamentI’d love to see how those metrics compare to how efficient a team was at the end of the season vs the beginning. I'm surprised a 19th ranked team in 2025 is better than the 2014 National Championship team.I believe this years Ky team is better than 2014 UConn
Well, context. That team wasn’t expected to win in 2014 heading into the tournament.I'm surprised a 19th ranked team in 2025 is better than the 2014 National Championship team.

There are two different metrics. This one is only for metrics as of the first day of entering the NCAA tournament. Follow Bracket Science on YouTube. Those defensive efficiency metrics everyone sites are post tournament. Win a bunch of games vs. good teams and your metrics improve substantially.
I think we are now in the same range as Duke 2015 going into the tournament, off the top of my head.
It’s just my opinion. I could be wrong. Napier, Boatwright and Daniel’s were the only players they had that I would call “good”. Kenpom metrics say this year team is better as well, however that is skewed by both teams no playing the same teams and schedule. No way to know for sure outside of those two teams playing a 7 game series or something, which is obviously impossibleI'm surprised a 19th ranked team in 2025 is better than the 2014 National Championship team.

Ditto. That's fine with me, to be honest.
Seemed like every March under Cal, whether UK was a legit threat in March or not, UK was always talked about.
Get to second round and I’m fine. Get to S16 I’m elated. Anything beyond is gravyDuke’s defense on Kenpom was 57 going into the 2015 tournament. This guy is off for some reason.
Worth noting that we could get better or worse over the next week.
Also, to be fair, these are all indicators or guidelines. They aren’t hard and fast rules. Hence stats like 22 out of 26 did this. Or, fairly arbitrary rankings like top 57.
That being said, Kentucky is unlikely to win it all, but that can be said of every individual team.
A few teams are in a better position than us to win it, notably Auburn, Florida, and Duke.
The way we are playing, we have a reasonable chance at a Final Four run. Not great by any stretch, but reasonable.
Personally, I’m hoping to get back to the second weekend so we can enjoy an extra week of hoping and dreaming.
There will almost certainly be land mines in round 2. Hoping we put the hammer down in round 1 for a change.
ChatGPT summary of runt's rant:I'm glad they're not talking about Kentucky. But then again, I don't listen to those shows, which would suck if I expected them to talk about Kentucky. As far as basketball is concerned, the SEC FINALLY came of age this year in becoming what it always could have been, if every other school finally got their heads out of their football arses.
So let them have their tournament where they revel in the POWER of the SEC this year. And not even have to mention little old Kentucky basketball. They don't want to talk about Kentucky. They've spent the last 100 years talking about Kentucky and basketball, and who else? This year, it gives them another chance to talk about someone else. GOOD.
So I say ... "shhhhhhhhh"
I'll stick with the Big Blue Nation on this one. Let's turn Bridgestone arena BLUE when all the other schools leave because they're not playing anymore and we've snatched up all their seats. Let the Blue Mist descend and shoot lights out and scorched earth policy towards the rest of this bunch of SEC teams this year. OWN THEM LIKE OLD TIMES.
Add to the trophy case. Screw them all. Screw the seeding process after we win another SEC tournament title and they give us a 4 or 5 seed. Screw the Selection Committee (head dog bubba chief amongst them, gee I wonder if UNC*** will even get in this year ?) .... after they put us into a ridiculous region with ridiculous potential pairings.
And I am about ready to just go ahead this year, to finally say SCREW YOU to every other SEC school and their fans.
For the ridiculously overly dramatic and circus like atmosphere antics, having your mascots rappel down from the rafters, to pump yourselves up so you can rush the court for your win starved fans because you're not good enough to beat anyone and it's damned rare to win, so YOU STILL rush the court when (and that's still a very big IF) you beat Kentucky.
but noone else (unless you're Vandy and you can beat Tennessee when they're number one, I make a singular exception for that)
Forget actually supporting these other SEC schools, if you are a member of BBN, I would say these days. The respect we've tried to give them has finally been disrespected enough. I went to the SEC tournament and helped my fellow UT and Vandy fans to support their teams, and that was when Tennessee won it in 79. They never won anything else since. Now you would think the Vols are some kind of blueblood.
HA !
So they've earned my disrespect now, I've seen enough over the years. All of them. And let me ask this as an open ended question ...
you got some really slimeyball customers as coaches, and they're all very very good coaches in this league, but some real crusty shenanigan types that I wouldn't trust in broad daylight within spitting distance of. They let the Golden situation at Florida end with a whimper because of it strictly being a "title nine " issue and nothing else to look at all the SMOKE that was NO FIRE ? Look at slimy Pearl at Auburn, likely to be coach of the freaking NCAA this year (you know its coming) ... and the SEC is as strong in basketball as any conference in history.....
Is this what we want for a league ?
I know I sure the hell don't. I'm mad as hell and want the other SEC schools for lunch. Big dinnertime is coming up soon. Let's dine like we always have. So let them talk about everyone else. Screw them all.
ooooops.
sorry.
Nah on second thought, I meant every word.
Go Big Blue

couldn't say it better myself. The speaker expresses frustration with the SEC basketball scene, particularly regarding Kentucky's lack of attention this year. They feel that other schools have been disrespectful and unworthy of Kentucky's respect, citing excessive celebrations for rare wins against Kentucky and questionable coaching behavior within the SEC. Despite this, the speaker remains loyal to the Big Blue Nation (Kentucky), asserting that they will continue to dominate and claim titles, regardless of the unfair treatment or seeding they receive. Speaker criticizes the SEC's current atmosphere and wants Kentucky to rise above the drama and disrespect from other schools.
