Cal hasn't had any assistant coaches go on to do anything because he doesn't develope them nor are they learning any coaching. They are just player babysitter Yes-men. Cal has only one of 3 parts you need in today's game to win big & that is recruiting. The other two are knowing how to coach defense & offense equally & how to now use the portal to custom roster build for KNOWN talent for defense, rebounding, and 3 point shooting experience rather than leaving those roles to freshman.
When he came to UK players couldn't move around every year to build these type custom rosters on the fly each year with older players like Hurley has done...Cal did well prior to this because he recruited Pro's who were forced into school a year as a majority of his roster, when others couldn't match him for years, till Coach K adpated later, and these stacked teams of freshman Pro's could bully most college teams around because they only had one or two equally talented players with the majority of their rosters stuck with 3 and 4 year decent college role players.
Instead of growing and adapting to the changes after the portal and NIL.. he just continued the same old process of heavily freshman rosters with the same old excuses when that process kept failing....and that process was ...being a year to year BLM charity agency for one and done players, their handlers, & the NBA because thats all he knows how to do...with coaching & winning titles as a 2nd priority. Now, like a narcissist cheater who has been exposed, he has to take himself to another victim & start the whole sales job over.
