Wonder if Vandy did this to any others schools or just UK ?
Good questionWonder if Vandy did this to any others schools or just UK ?
By definition rescheduling on short notice tends to be ad hoc. In the real world unexpected stuff comes up. It probably happens a half dozen times per season at each SEC arena for all any of us knows. Other visiting teams don't make a big deal of it.Wonder if Vandy did this to any others schools or just UK ?

UK's hotel in Nashville gave them keys that got demagnetized. Going back down to the front desk threw off the team's routine by 3 minutes and caused them to lose the next day.I heard it was Vandy’s secret weapon.

Typical bush league Vandy move.
They’re still on the court probablyY'all can head to the vandy board at any moment y'all want.
Not sure why Vandy fans think this is comical and not at all a big deal. I'm also not sure Vandy isn't going to get their ass chewed out by the SEC. Its customary, and likely even in some rule book somewhere, that the home team must allow for the visiting team a period of time in the arena/gym to practice.
Pretty scummy of the Vandy fans here to not only think it didn't matter, but also applaud their teams cheating practices.
Mods, please take out the trash, id include Friedas as well. He's always been kind of a bitch when UK wins. Dips out for a while then comes back around when the next game comes.
No shoot around and turn their lockerroom heat up to 95I would also return the favor for Vandy when they come to Rupp. No shoot around. It's only fair, and apparently totally allowed. So it shouldn't be a problem.
Lol considering we played like dog shit in the first half, I’d say the lack of shoot around playing a role isn’t very far fetched. Whether Vandy was playing games with the change or not… who knows but you’d be stupid to think it wasn’t a possibility.
Who in this thread gave him a pass????yeah and Cal got bashed by our fanbase for that then Pope does it but gets a pass
A) I thought it was cleared up that Vandy absolutely allowed for a shootaround either before or after the original scheduled time?
B) I don’t think adults are trying to hurt their piers, I think there was likely a legitimate reason the shootaround schedule had to change. That’s not how you win games, and Byington is a pretty good person.
C) I’m a little surprised that a shootaround schedule change is such a big deal. I’m sure Pope had a reason not to have the shootaround.
A. This is news to me. As of late last night they didn't offer a shoot around. And if they did offer an alternative it better have been a pretty good one.
B. Vandy got their shoot arouns, did they not? You know what you do in this situation, if your program isn't prepared enough to offer both teams a shot around? Then you end yours early to give the away team a chance.
C. I've been talking about the importance of shoot arounds all season. It's very important to get into the flow, especially in a weird arena like Vandys. Ask any basketball player at any level: they want to get some reps in the gym they are about to play in.
At the very least, vandy owns their own incompetence and does whats right for the visiting team.. instead they chose to keep their shoot around unaffected and told the visiting team "tough shit".
Not one person blamed the loss on it. Just said it was bullshit because it was.Nah, if he had the option to move it and didn't, that's still on the coach. When you're someone else's guest, you have to be amenable to them.
However, considering we were up 8 with around 5 minutes to go before we imploded, I really think anyone blaming a lack of shootaround is just irrationally playing the blame game.
We lost because we are soft, won't play defense, have key players hurt and lack overall talent.
If Pope doesn’t retaliate to Vandy then that will be very disappointing. The nice guy stuff, however genuinely real, has to have a point where you cannot let people shit on you. I really am a nice loyal guy until you screw with me, my family or my team when I was working. Then I am a real asshole until I have evened the score.

It should be “available” 5:00 am to 6:00 and then until UK’s time have a preschool funhouse setup. So Pope should call Byington the day before the game in Lexington and say, “I know you’re scheduled at 10am for your shootaround but the gym isn’t available at that time. Let me know if y’all want to shoot around before that or after that and we’ll make it work. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
Because that’s what happened.
Why wasn’t it available at that time? Was there something more important going on in that shithole that supersedes a nationally televised game against one of the top teams in the country? Chances are pretty high this was a mind game tactic. It is what it is but first I’ve heard of something like thatSo Pope should call Byington the day before the game in Lexington and say, “I know you’re scheduled at 10am for your shootaround but the gym isn’t available at that time. Hustle AroundShooting is the least of our issues. They need to have
Defense Around
Pass around
Pick and roll around
Rebound around.
What else around

Byington isn’t a child, it wasn’t a mind game. Come on with that, 5Star. You’re better than that.
I admit I’m a sore loser. Sorry famByington isn’t a child, it wasn’t a mind game. Come on with that, 5Star. You’re better than that.
I'll be impressed and genuinely grateful if there's a single person chiming in on this thread who's ever been involved in scheduling a high-major shootaround or ever gave it a moment's thought before. This sounds like complaining that the CEO rescheduled the weekly staff meeting to conflict with your dentist appointment, after the company goes on to lose a billion dollars that quarter.Does anyone know how a visitor's shootaround time is "scheduled." Did Vanderbilt actually agree to a schedule for UK's shootaround before telling UK that it would need to be a choice of different times? I'm not familiar with the process. We now know that the initial information, and outrage, was fake news triggering misplaced outrage.
Agree. Until there is an official response, I am going to chalk it up to Goose getting, and passing, on info that was incomplete. I do not believe that Vandy would simply cancel the shoot around. It could be the offered alternate times were not to Popes liking. Maybe he thought the extended shooting time that occurs well before game time was enough. I see no big deal here, as of now.As a functioning adult, would you reschedule a shoot around and give the other team options before or after the previously scheduled time to get shots up to play mind games with the #9 team in the country?
It just doesn’t make any sense.
There's been some saying that is why we played the way that we did, which means they believe it contributed to the loss. So I would certainly say some are blaming the loss on it at least to some degree. Not one person blamed the loss on it. Just said it was bullshit because it was.

If you have strong opinions on how the SEC should punish dastardly Vandy who stole away your hard-earned win, but you don't actually know how many times shootarounds are rescheduled per year.... full credit for being often wrong but never in doubt.
I'll drop it. Good to see you @Friedas_Boss . I'm a cheapskate and the other site ended the deal without notice so I'm just on free sites for the moment, "reevaluating priorities." Come say hi sometime.
Here's a wacky idea: how about don't be so poor at something so simple, so you don't even have to have the win be in question? We were up by a 1 point with like 5 minutes left.. and what a shock, we played much better in the 2nd half (probably because our "shoot around" was the first 20 minutes of the game lolol).. if you don't want something in question, then you need to do it the right way.
So yes it absolutely is a factor. Do we win if we have the shoot around? Maybe, maybe not. But our chances to win sure improve.
And if these things don't matter, write in to your coach or any coach and say "hey I don't think these shoot arounds matter" and see what they say.
That ought to be ANOTHER fine to us on top of the 500k they now owe us.Jack said they had to try and work at the hotel. Vandy called them 1 hr before they were scheduled
Whelp, that's on Pope then.
Are you talking about the public warmup drills as the fans are filing in or an extended practice time closed to the public? There's no reason to ever think a visiting program didn't get a shoot around because weve never heard of such a thing. A lot of us played HS basketball, many of us played in college. You always get a shoot around IF your opponent is able to get theirs (exemption being if something happens where time constraints mean no team gets theirs).
