It's a good point.. Butler not only got into early foul trouble, but then picked up (unfairly) two awful fouls in the 2nd, pretty quickly after he came in. He played only 18 minutes.
We were kind of stuck here.

Altogether, team had a bad game, but we were there and still could've won. I just hope they all take experience from this for on down the road.
As far as Kriisa, we've got to play him as our primary PG backup. We've no other real alternative.
For our team, I think ultimately NOT getting caught up in a physical game and fouling is going to be a huge key.

All of this. Except I would tinker with the lineups to see if I could find someone to hold the fort for a few minutes each half. Depending on Kriisa is a no go for me.
Need some high level nba talent to win titles. 96 had like 9 guys play some n nba and 98 had several. 2012 had several and so on. Need a mix of high talent and experience.
Butler needs to play 30-35 minutes a game. He would put unbelievable numbers up and would be the second best point guard in the league behind Florida's Clayton. I guess Coach Pope feels pressured to play Krissa more than most of us would like. Butler is superior at everything over Krissa.
I think Kiirisa actually gets overhyped and causes him to be out of control. Again this was the first road game in a hostile environment. I doubt any of these guys saw such an atmosphere in a regular season game. IMO Pope will use this as a very good learning tool to make the team better.
Watch almost all of our games when Butler comes off for Krissa after the first media timeout we look like a completely different team, unorganized and running horrible offense.
Assists are one of the most overrated stats, because not every assist is equal. Sometimes you just happen to be the one to passed the ball to a guy who makes a play, and other times you made the play by getting the ball to a guy in a scoring position.
Actually Assist-to-TO ratio is the most overrated stat. Those 2 are not related (assists and turnovers). A better stat would be Steal-to-TO ratio!
Probably a lot of the same people said that we would lose 10 games or more before the season started. Lose ONE close game on the road in a tough environment and the sky is falling. Let's start trashing the players who had a bad game. 🙄
We are all disappointed, but no player should be trashed.
The game was decided at the start when we did not come and match their intensity and effort. That can and should be corrected. There are always mistakes and missed shots in every game. Yes, you try to minimize those, but ANYONE can have an off night. Did I not just watch Brea miss his first 5 three attempts against Western? That did not all of a sudden turn him into a bad shooter.
Oweh helped win the Duke game in the last minute. Last night he had a very bad last minute. He is the same (good) player.
I believe he would hit one of those open three's at least 8 out of 10 times. Just wasn't his night

Racking up 19 assists in two games against Bucknell and Jackson State doesn't tell the entire story.

19 came in 2 games against nobodys
0 assists in the two real games we have played...three games if you count WKU
11 assists in the other 6 games for an average of 1.8 per game

I refuse to get down on this team at all. Pope has undoubtedly had to work nonstop since he hit the door. The players haven't gelled properly as a team. They beat Duke in a game that looked like it was going to go the other way for 85% of the game. They had a bad night at an away game that was extremely physical with atrocious officiating. They're a much better team than they showed against South Carolina.
From what I saw last night, the whole team, except Butler struggled against the pressure defense Clemson played- we had more turnovers than assists- didn't seem anyone was comfortable against their pressure- only time will tell
More and more, he is showing that he may be more of a one-dimensional player than everyone expected. So far, and for his collegiate career, he has been a three-point howitzer, with very little offensive game inside the arc. Plus, his defensive ability is not high quality. He looks to get others the ball, mostly around the arc, and has produced some high-assist games when teammates are making shots. His ability to handle the ball against tight defensive pressure is a concern, per my view, as he seems to frequently push off with his left arm and he has gotten away with it quite a bit. Same for Robison, btw ...
He has taken 36 shots this season, with 33 (91.7%) of them three-pointers, making 8 for a 24.2% clip.
For his career, he has attempted 847 shots, with 680 (80.3%) of them being three-pointers, making 246 for a 36.2% clip.
For his career, he has averaged 29.4 minutes per game, but yet has only attempted 158 free-throws, making 125 for a 79.1% clip.
It appears he is not skilled enough to create his own shot and/or drive to the basket inside the arc ... and teams know this.

I agree with the Achilles heel comment. They were letting Williams or Oweh dribble the ball up with Krissa in the game because the PG couldn't ge the ball up the floor against any pressure. Huge drop of from Butler to Krissa in both offense and defense. Perry looks small and slow when he has played, so I don't know that we have a better answer.
Regards Perry, I saw him play several times in high school and was very impressed with his play. However, he was not a point guard, although he handled the ball some, of course ... he was the off-guard. I know Pope has him playing point guard, so far, and I understand it ... but it may be like Pitino's attempts to make Tony Delk a point guard. I think Perry is better-suited as an off-guard, but do not know if that can be consistently effective (because of his size) in high-level D1 basketball. Without question, though, Perry knows the game and how to play and is very savvy.

Butler HAS to stay out of foul trouble. Krissa HAS to set guys up when he’s in the game. Move the ball. Clemson sucked we sucked worse. That game should have been a W. Oweh hits one of those 3s who knows but he can bring the ball up on a team like Clemson no problem so Kerr needs to pay attention.
I'd rather give Perry some rum to see if he can give mins down the stretch. Kerr is erratic and brings little to the team. Love the guy but he killed us last night. Guys like Chandler, Perry and Noah need some mins. If they aren't cutting it pull em.
I thought last night we could have rotated lineups in, pressed and sped things up. I think their big would have been dragging at the end but instead we let them dictate the pace. First kink in the Armour for Pope. Some odd lineups and not enough Brea.
The Zags game was huge but now it's even bigger. Don't want to make top 5 then lose 2 straight. The Zags are tough. I hope our shots fallen and this woke some people up.
Still liked our fight, bad calls, tough road loss, but I thought we got bullied. Got to toughen up for the road in the SEC.

But Krista needs to play 10-12 minutes and not in the 20s…he’s not a good backup PG that deserves high minutes for backup
