For the second straight year, no Gators heard their names called during the NBA Draft . Walker or
Frazier did not get drafted . Is Fla. on a downward slide ?

I think so, at least to an extent - I think Billy D knew it and left for that reason. Basketball will never be #1, or even #2 at UF. Not a fault thing, it just is...Donovan did a fantastic job there given the circumstances. But he did catch lightening in a bottle his two title years.

Donovan getting that team to the Final Four last year looks more and more impressive. I know that does not fit the agenda of this thread, but I'm gonna give a coach props when he deserves it.

But yes, FL is on the downslide. They already were this past year, and now without Donovan they are going to be largely irrelevant in the SEC.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Billy certainly had many obstacles to overcome to have the success he had.

It is going to be very interesting to see how Fla. will be able to recruit in the years to come. I also think they are on the downslide.

Truthfully, I will miss Billy D. He made FLA and consistent contender to the SEC, even when he didn't have the talent. If it weren't for Cal I would really be upset on not landing him here at UK. He is a really good coach and I wish him the best in the Pro's. With that said, FLA has been on a downward spiral for quite some time. His coaching was the only thing keeping that program a float. With him gone, it will sink back into obscurity.

While the SEC has a few up and coming programs, none will be as consistent as UF was unfortunately.

I thought walker would get drafted, but Finney Smith might have been their best player, he'll be back at UF next year.

Or even #2? Not sure what you mean unless you're insinuating that spring football is #2 after regular season. "Football schools" all consider basketball second (albeit a distant second for many) other than perhaps LSU where baseball may be argued as second.

With Florida looking more and more like a mid tier SEC team I think the SEC will belong to UK every year for the foreseeable future. When was the last time a team in the SEC not named UK or Florida won the conference regular season title?
This year the challengers will be Vandy, LSU, and A&M. I think UK will win the conference regular season title by at least three games this year.

I was thinking baseball....although this spring football would probably be more accurate. For some reason, I had it in my head that you all were big in baseball, too. Apologies for the error.

Walker did not really show himself to be that great a player while at Fla.
