Yes, i fell in love with this kid the second i saw his highlights. Hits like a truck and has gotten swole. When a RS FR who hasnt even touched the field has an "or" beside him with the Veteran defensive star, youre being given some hints...

I totally agree, the kid pursues upfield as well as any linebacker we have had at UK and has a cockiness to him that I love at the position.

He is one of three fighting for the backup role to Forrest. Hendrix, a RS frosh, is among the group, as well. If Love is eligible and Firios or Hendrix is #2 going into the season, that can mean a few things. But, Forrest is the starter. No "or" by his name. 24/7 got that wrong.

lol, Nico is going to be a legend this year based off of a typo. In the official media guide there is no 'or' for the starting position the 'or' is for the 3 players fighting for the backup role (Nico could be 4th string). I can see it now, every time Forrest makes a bad play this board is going to be calling for him to sit the bench and to put Nico in.

Hit the brakes...
For the record I have had this believe long before this thread. My son just finished his freshman year at UK and had a couple of classes this year with him. He said Nico looks like he has been hitting it hard in the weight room and he also said he always has a look on his face like he is pissed off. That is what we need at MLB, a dude that has a perminant game face.

Liked him when we got him. Talked to some casual friends in Florida and all think he will become a hard hitting, quick to the ball SEC linebacker!

He does hit like a truck. He has all the physical tools to be an outstanding LB for UK. But, he needs to make sure he is smart and puts himself in the right place to be able to do that in college. It is not all about strength. I'd say temper the enthusiasm till we see him get a good amount of snaps under his belt before we start anointing him the next Jeff Snedegar.

If we only had Snedegar.......One of my all time favorites.

Let's not forget Flanngan, he got here late last summer but really started to play much better toward end of year.

Actually played very well in UL game.

Snedagar was a badass and I loved his demeanor but he also made some bonehead plays like hitting guys out of bounds that kept the other teams drives alive that drove me crazy.

Agreed. Let's hope all UK LBs play smarter than Snedager. Second coming of Jim Kovach would be ideal.

If our LB's can shut down the Yards-After-Contact this season, I will be more than satisfied. Our LB's had a hard time taking the ball carrier down at the point of attack last season. I am hopeful that another year in the weight room and on the practice field will help with our tackling.

Nico seems to be a kid that can definitely bring an edge to our LB Corp!!

IMO the best thing about the LB positions is that we have a lot more of them than we had last year. I think some of them will get the job done.

The media guide has to be an error. I've seen the LBs play and the 1st string guys were by far the better LBs in the middle. For there to be an "or" it would mean something bad happened to Josh Forrest. Next year the starting MLB will probably be Courtney Love.

Josh just has to play smarter, and make tackles in the open field. The coaches have said that he is working overtime in the film room. That's what he needs.

The 24/7 reprint of the media guide was in error as they put an 'or' in front of Firios' name and it shouldn't have been there. There is no 'or' in front of Firios' name (who is listed after Forrest) in the actual media guide.

Love it. He's hitting weights and has a mean look on his face in class. Gonna be a good SEC 'backer b/c of this.

'Tis the summer. Best scouting report we can get.

The thing that sticks with me from Firios HS tape is that he was constantly scraping straight to the point of attack, and then running upfield into the gap, like a machine. Great pad level, form tackler. He attacks opposing runners, rather than satisfy himself with intercepting them laterally, while at the same time generally keeping good leverage on the football at all times. Well-schooled, and very physical.

In other words, he plays the position the way it should be played. I love the direction our LB corps is going.

Yes. It was refreshing to watch a kid play like something other than a mere projectile, watching his film. At times, I begin to think HS coaches aren't teaching tackling any more.

Sned was a bad azz Mack truck on overcharger. Sometimes his momentum caused him to "bump" some folks after the play was dead. :) I wonder why he never made it in the pros. He was throwback nasty, signed by the Dolphins if I recall. And to think he was a QB in HS.

Nico had the best film ive seen. He has amazing form and isnt scared to break some necks.

Who will be better Kash Or Nico? Both are nice gets and could play for anyone in country IMO.
