Nice article on Cal from CBS Matt Norlander

That title of that article is going to drive some of our "fans" into a trailer park frenzy bashing Cal.

It was a great article though. I read it earlier and came away impressed with how Pro-Cal it was.

I agree completely, it was a great article.

The Cal bashers are going to be like "He can win his personal titles, but does not win us national titles" completing ignoring 2012 as the Cal bashers do. I've always said Cal has already secured himself as the 2nd best coach in UK history...and will make that a very lengthy gap the longer he stays. Pitino will be a far distant 3rd on my list. Now does Cal need to win another title to be considered truly great? Probably so. It is funny how sports work though. If UK finishes against Wisconsin/does not get cheated by the refs and somehow beats Duke...Cal is viewed as an all time great coach historically IMO. With the loss though, the historic season is being ignored by many analysts, journalists, and UK fans, and it was a failure...and he is just a "solid" coach who is a great recruiter. As I said, funny how sports work.

Six more guys into the pros, and so how could you say he's wrong? What played out on television Thursday night was essentially another recruiting pitch, the best you could ever ask for, and it was put on by a national television outlet that frequently went to Cal for reaction and what essentially became in-home visits to any future five-stars tuning in to see that latest lot of Wildcats to go pro.

The mission of every university (after sucking every penny you have and don't have from you) is to prepare the students for careers beyond college. Cal is just following that mission. We need to quit bitching about Cal's perceived priorities. While I agree we could or should have one or two more championships, he is getting us pretty damn close just about every year, but in the meantime he's creating millionaires, which in essence is following the mission of the university to prepare young people for a career. It just so happens the NBA doesn't require you finish your degree.
