NFL Draft Thread

And Mr. Irrelevant is: Chad Kelly, the QB from Ole Miss

No UK player drafted for the first time since 2005/2006. Shame for that streak to end.

Barring early entries by someone like Conrad or Westry, or an impact year from Baker, we may be looking at the same result next year. Starting with the 2019 draft, things start getting a lot better.

7 wins without any draftable pros.
I would say that we had 2- Toth and Boom, not to mention a dozen or so other players that weren't eligible. That Toth and Boom didn't get drafted doesn't meant they weren't draftable. I think that both guys will play on Sundays.

Im told our staff is the best talent evaluators in the game so the nfl must be wrong.

Somebody put a bee in your bonnet or is this just your same jibberish that you usually do?

Im just repeating what i read on here so everybody knows they shouldnt complain about our lack of nfl draftees. Hopefully our current guys get drafted next season.

I haven't seen any negativity yet but it could come.

First, the best talent evaluators in the world might not get Myles Garrett. I would venture a guess that Stoops was well aware of Garrett's talent. That we didn't get him hardly means that we didn't properly evaluate him. When you coach at for the UK football team, you don't always get the talented players that you would like to have. But it doesn't mean that you couldn't evaluate them.

Second, the first full class from this regime was the 2014 class. We'll probably have three players drafted from that class- Edwards, Ware, and Baker. We may get lucky with another player or two- perhaps West, if he gets healthy. Perhaps Juice. Middleton might have a shot. It gets even better for the '15 class- Conrad, Westry, Baity, Allen, Jones, Stenberg are all legitimate prospects, and we may have others. 2016 and 2017 might even be better, though it's too early to speculate for most of these guys.

Finally, the NFL draft does not entirely translate to talent evaluation at the college level. Boom Williams was an excellent college running back- SEC caliber all the way. His particular skill set didn't translate to what the NFL is looking for, though he still may surprise a free agent. It doesn't mean that he wasn't properly evaluated, and offered, as a SEC impact player. Stephen Johnson is highly unlikely to hear his name called next year. It doesn't mean that he is not capable of leading us to another bowl game. There have been undrafted Heisman winners. But their college coaches still managed to properly evaluate their ability for the college game.

Think back to who was coaching in 2012. That should explain a lot ......

Think back to the chances of an elite player coming to UK with the support and record we had back then, why waste your time.

One thing about these coaches, they aren't afraid to go head to head with anyone, but then they have about a hundred times as much to offer as our program had back then. One reason I admire our ONE four star that year for coming to UK, Towles.

Boom committed to Georgia before they signed Their two five stars that are staying there another year.

From the list of programs w/o a draft pick, I think only Kentucky and South Carolina made a bowl.

Hmmmm.
