49ers made a good move.

Now, come on Titans!
Plan A: trade down
Plan B: Jamal Adams
Plan C: OJ Howard

What do GMs and scouts see in Trubisky? 8-5 record? Good thing he did not have to rely on his college education to secure a job....:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

He's one of the better prospects among a group of poor prospects. And teams are desperate.

Well all the WRs went in the top 9. So maybe not as much a reach.

In the draft, runs start with the first team. This year it was the Titans. So, if we would've passed on a WR would they have gone as high? Hard to say....

That being said, Adams probably had the highest floor in the draft and had an elite ceiling. And he would've filled a HUGE need. He wasn't coming off surgery. He was the easier and safer pick.

Historically, WR have never been an especially good position to draft in the first round. Just so many good, fast WR and, many times, it's a complete function of who's throwing and the system that is run that determines whether a WR will be successful. Look at Brady and the Patriots. They've plugged in a ton of guys who were basically nobodies on other teams and now they're unbelievably productive. If I was drafting, I'd be drafting DL, outside rushers and CBs in this year's first round. There's plenty of time for RBs and WRs and none of the QBs project to be franchise players so why overpay?

Well got to figure the Titans go for D at 18...maybe one of the Alabama defensive players that are on the board. I know it won't happen but if OJ Howard is there at 18 the crazy mad scientist offensive lover in me is tempted...D is not gonna be good so why not have a juggernaut on offense! That said, gonna be D lol

If Howard is there, I'd do it.

I'd like to trade but I doubt anyone would. We could upgrade ILB but Foster scares me. And I think Allen's shoulders have everyone freaked out.

I like Tre White as well. He might not have a crazy elite ceiling but his floor is ultra high. Word is the Titans like the CB out of Colorado too.

Love the Jackson pick as a secondary Titans follower. He's electric in the return game, quite capable as a corner/slot guy. Thought Davis was a reach at 5, though. IMO.

Crossing my fingers for Harris, Peppers, or Foster as a Cowboys fan.

I like Jackson as well. I'm not upset with this pick. Though I would've gone with Howard personally. Even though we have bigger needs, Howard is just too good to pass up.

On a side note....I thought this was absolutely one of the worst NFL Draft night coverages by ESPN. They seemed very disorganized IMO. And I really can't stand Mel Kiper and his ranting. I found it funny how far off his "best available" picks were compared to who the teams were actually choosing.

He got 5 picks right and McShay got 4.

Honestly I thought it was a really good draft. A lot of questionable and surprising picks. There's still a ton of talent left on the board too.

I'm a Bucs fan and love OJ Howard falling to them. Winston has a ton of weapons to throw the ball to now. Gotta resolve the RB situation and get some help on Defense.

So far so good though. Go Buccaneers!!

The "Godfather" Gil Brandt is one of the most experienced and well respected talent analysts in the field. He said that this draft is very interesting. It's one of the deepest ones (at certain positions) that he's ever seen. He notes that there are some positions (CB, S, RB) where someone might get selected 1-2 rds lower than they normally would. So, there will be some 3rd rd picks this yr that would be 1st rd picks in average drafts.

This is a reason why I'm leaning towards the Titans keeping both their 3rd picks.....rather than sacrificing to get back into the 2nd.

Brandt and several others also mentioned that there are about 10 elite prospects this yr......then there are about 40-50 guys who are exceptional prospects who grade out similarly.

They were mourning their laid off brethren, or maybe too hungover from celebrating still having jobs.

If Cook and Mixon at RB were still on the board I wonder which one the Bengals would select

Not a Bengals fan but don't hate them like some do. I would steer clear of Mixon, serious lack of judgement clocking that girl the way he did.

just some random thoughts

Saints have an interesting backfield now...Ingram, Peterson, Kamara

WKU with 3 players off the board?

Apparently Ole Miss had a really good TE...

Cleveland, not bad...for Cleveland...if Myles and Peppers both pop, that could be something to keep an eye on...

The TN Titans are fully on board with the offense wins championships montra of the current era. 3/4 players selected so far are offense. Mariota will have a lot of toys this season. The D will struggle yet again though.

I'm not mad about the Joe mixon pick
It happened three years ago when he was 18. Teams have taken guys who have have done similar at 22. He's kept his nose clean since then. Still, funny that the Bengals would be the ones to pull the trigger.

What?! They're just providing weapons for their franchise QB. They're not gonna go Saints with their offense. They want to be a methodical pounding dump truck offense not a fast finesse Ferrari.

2nd, their defense ranked in the middle of the league in pts allowed, second in rush defense, sixth in sack totals......the only weak spot was the secondary where they added one of the best FA safeties that was available, one of the better FA CBs that was available, and a 1st rd rookie CB athletic freak that should be an upgrade in some respect. Not to mention that Byard started to play more and more as a rookie last yr and graded out by PFF as very promising player. I'm not ready to predict one of the NFLs most dominate defenses, but they had a decent defense overall last yr and made at 3 upgrades to the weak spots......and the draft isn't over yet.

This is kind of my thought too. As a Bengals fan, I'd prefer he wasn't on the team, but the reaction from people is as if Mixon is the only athlete ever to do something to a woman. What he did was awful, but I don't remember people saying anything about Kobe's rape case last year during his going away party and I don't see anyone saying the Steelers are a classless organization because Big Ben is still around.

Who was the 3rd WKU player taken? I only noticed two with Lamp and Taylor.
