Next year we play Toledo, Eastern Michigan, and Tennessee Tech which should be wins.

However the other nine games are against the very same teams who we went 1-8 against this year. I have no confidence that we can win any of these games in 2025 including Ole Miss and it is reasonable to expect us to be the underdogs in all nine. Vandy and SC and Florida are on the rise. Texas and Tennessee and Georgia will again be playoff caliber teams. Auburn on the Plains might be too tough.

So even if we pull one or two upsets next year our record will be no better than 5-7, but I think 4-8 once again is more likely.

So where does that leave the program after 2025? What will be Stoops fate after next season? What will attendance look like?

How will we get new assistant coaches to come to a program where the coach is on the hottest of seats? How about getting the top portal players or recruits to come to a program where the future looks so uncertain?

I wish I saw a reason to be more positive but some how I actually seeing us going backwards during a season with declining attendance and increasing dissatisfaction with the coaching staff.

Toledo is no lock, but I'll still say we beat them and upset Vanderbilt or Louisville for a delightful repeat of 4 and 8.

5-7 is the absolute ceiling for next season, with another 4-8 season most likely. I’ll be an optimist and assume we’ll surprise some unlucky team - no idea who that will be.
