So, of the six (6) listed, besides Oweh and Garrison, you think Jasper Johnson will start and get significant minutes ... along with two (2) portal guys ?? Thanks for the reply ...
I'd say of those 6 JJ is most likely to start. If we miss out on all portal PG options and Kerr isn't back Lewis might as well.
Yes. Johnson will start, with Oweh. A portal PG, a portal PF, and a portal center will all be needs. Maybe even a shooter as well

I think Oweh is your big dog. Garrison and Johnson will be good enough to start on a high-level team if they're not the focal point. I think you'll need 2-3 more (who can shoot from 3) at that level to transfer in.
Between soph Perry, soph Chandler, Lewis, and Moreno, I suspect you'll have at least 2 that are worthy of 6th/7th man status on a formidable team.
Basically, I think we can be dangerous if 2 of our top 3 players are portal transfers. If not, the ceiling might be a little lower. And that's assuming no injuries. Really, 3 portal studs would be ideal.

I get the sentiment and am certainly enjoying this ride, OF COURSE, but if Pope is concerned enough about next year to be on the road recruiting during the current season, why is it not interesting for fans to be thinking about next year, too ??

Maybe. Moreno is raw, he’s light, he isn’t physical, he isn’t the best passer. He gets pushed away from rebounds. I just haven’t really been super high on him. He’s good, but not lots of minutes good.

A lot of possible returners for next season that can contribute but you have to have impact players to mesh with that group.
Johnson is a better player than Lewis now and it already shows in HS recruiting rankings. There is a reason that Johnson is consensus top 20 guy and Lewis is in 25-40 range.
Johnson easily could perform similar level of Tyty and Cason Wallace freshman year. Also, they are both skilled (Jasper is good at shooting and has good handle), but Jasper is better in size and athleticism.
At the end of the day high school rankings don’t mean nothing. Lewis has continued to improve and will keep on improving.
I agree Moreno is very raw I don’t think he will get a lot of playing time his first year.
I think Chandler can play at this level but it will be very interesting if he returns imo. I hope Otega and Garrisons decide to comeback.

Folks..we really don’t have to look at next year THIS year,
this team doesn’t have that other guy running things anymore so we can enjoy the season
I just think Pope will go for an older PG much like Butler to ease Lewis in. SG is much less of a priority as Johnson could blend in even in an off night (like Robinson). Plus we will have Perry Noah and Chandler, who will all improve.
Uhhh that's Pope's JOB to recruit right now for next year.
I've been a fan for over 50 seasons. Every year fans wanna talk about next year during the current season.
I've never understood it.
1. Why not concentrate on the present.
2. Why rush time? We don't have a lot of time on earth as it is.
I normally wait until the season is over to start thinking about next year. However, with the week off and the thought that we will actually have some returnees has got me thinking. I'm kinda old school and want to give our returning players their shot. So, I'd rather see all 5 eligible return (maybe 6) plus the 3 recruits. So, I think we are in need of an experienced strong 4 (who can sub at the 5) and a great shooting 3 (who can play small ball 4) and a couple of younger portal guys who plan to stay awhile and fill in any "holes". I would rather not see obvious recruiting portals over our current players and seeing current players transfer every year. lol I promise you I'm not 80+...... yet.

Thought it was interesting that Travis Graf said RIVALS recruiting rankings are based on how recruits are perceived to turn out as NBA prospects and not college prospects. He said if it were the other way around that Lewis would be ranked much higher .
How much have you actually seen him play? Kid is talented but needs to add weight and strength before I’m ready to agree he’s what you are saying he is. I’ve watched him live several times and right now he struggles greatly to play and finish through contact. He’s super talented with a high ceiling but he needs to get bigger and stronger and fast.
