Next QB HAS to be a transfer, right?

I think Allen transferred for a reason.

Either he got the impression that Levis is going to return next year or he saw first hand that one of the other guys is a stud and will very quickly rise up the ranks and take over.

The trajectory this program is on means a transition from being less reliant on guys who couldn’t play at other schools to a place that can get the talent out of high school and develop it.

Obviously Levis is an exceptional talent but generally speaking top tier QB1s do not transfer.

We’re not a struggling program anymore. The talent, depth, staff and over all culture can now support and develop a young QB.
I don't disagree. We’ve really struggled to recruit QBs and corners for some reason though.

I think Woodson was NFL Caliber, he was at least good enough to lead a college team to a BCS Bowl win, just didn’t quite have enough around him.
I agree with you Woodson was NFL caliber, but he did some nice weapons around him. I loved that offense in 07-08. What got him was poor mechanics.

Top tier QB transfer every year, at least 3 starting QB in the SEC East are transfers, 4 if you count JC transfer Bennett, no idea about Missouri's. Same in the west where AU like UT last season had 2 fighting to start. That's a pretty high percentage of transfers.

I'm definitely in the Mindset that we take a High Profile Transfer at the QB position from the Portal. I also believe even though we do, Hogan may actually still end up Winning the Job. There's just something about him that I like, He has Great Arm Strength, Quick release, and is Athletic and able to scramble pretty well. Sound Familiar ? Aka Will Levis. Seems to cut from a very similar mold. Either way I believe that the QB position will be well taken care of from now on.

He has a brother there too, they are a package deal. Was an Early commit to LSU until Max decided to transfer to ATM and he soon committed there. They are Mark Richt's nephews. The younger brother may have been the top TE in his class, so it's not like he is excess bagage.
Yeah, I know. Dad was Super Bowl QB. Thought he was mishandled at LSU, guess we'll find out tonight if TAM will do any better.

Woodson was very good and very accurate but a little slow footed if memory serves.
He had a hellava streak of completions without an interception going at one point.

Yeah he did I just mean from like actually being a National Chamipnship contender. They just weren’t deep enough, or talented enough at every spot on the field needed to be that good.

That isn't sustainable, is it? To try and put a transfer QB in every year or two?

How do you develop timing and rhythm? Or team chemistry? Or somehow convince your leader to play for the name on the front of the jersey as opposed to the name on the back?

Look at the men's basketball team. There's a reason they get bodied by scrub teams who have played together for years.

I’m sure everyone would agree that signing a top ranked quarterback every year would be ideal . But right now it appears we can get ALOT more talented quarterback from the portal. I mean , West Virginia and South Carolina had NO shot at JT Daniels and Spencer Rattler when they came out of high school. We should be able to attract that kind of talent from the portal now .

I think the key here is obvious. Put enough passing game assets on roster, and it becomes easier to attract and retain QB talent. Other than the OL at the moment, I think we are clearly set for a bit, and can be trusted to solve the OL problem as well. THAT might be where we go back to the portal. I'm not sure about Hogan yet. He was a Texas HS stud on a high level. He came to us from a program with a demonstrated ish show offense. The level of mismanagement being demonstrated at Iowa leaves Hogan as an "X" factor for me still, like others in post.

Clubnik should definitely start at Clemson next year, but it's similar to McCord. I just happen to think Devin Brown beats out McCord and he starts.

Hopefully UK has a shot at the caliber of either of these guys though. Wow.
