I just don't see QB talent outside of Levis capable of keeping the upwards momentum going.

That said, an impact transfer at QB, with the roster depth we're looking at over the next two to three years, makes us competitive for an SECE title.

Yes, we need to get a stud transfer at QB.

It will be one of our biggest priorities for next off-season.
Not one of. THE biggest priority. Levis is the only NFL caliber QB we’ve had since Tim Couch, and he’s the difference between 3rd or 4th in the SEC East, or 2nd. Losing him will be the biggest single football player loss we’ve had in my lifetime.

If Levis ends up being a first or second rounder and the young WRs keep progressing at the rate they seem to be. QBs will be beating down the door to transfer to UK.
The word that has been mentioned around KSR and some podcasts is that Stoops and Co are already hearing from potential transfers interested in taking the reigns. I feel that if things keep progressing that interest will grow even stronger. People have to be salivating over throwing to this WR and TE room next year.

This

UK will have their choice of former 4 & maybe even 5* QBs begging to come here, play in a pro system, throw to a bevy of 4* burner recievers

IMO we will want someone who has an NFL arm, can commit to being here at least 2 seasons, has been at a P5 school, & has played some if not started.

No SEC team compete for a Div. Championship without a better than good QB. By not recruiting a top QB you put yourself into the transfer box which is iffy at best. Not many 5 Star QB transfer if you look into last years transfer pool.

I'm all for giving Hogan and Sheron (sp?) a fair shot at being QB1 next year. That said, Stoops and staff are in the business of winning FB games, and they would be remiss to turn away a top-flight QB that's willing to come on board.

Playing time is earned on the practice field and maintained through on-field performance. As long as everyone has an equally fair shot at competing for the job, I'm totally fine with bringing in a transfer.

Not many high school 5 star quarterback's either. I think Levi's was a 3 star in high school

Of course they are, but Hogan May have something to say about that. Strong arms don’t grow on trees

Bingo....

The spread offense is not the NFL. UK may be one of a handful of schools running pro style. The days of read option, throw short, etc....that gig is drying up. There are 6-7 teams with a top 100 player on the bench at QB spot....UK will be a huge opportunity after this all plays out

As Coach Scan has said multiple times (paraphrasing), "Coach (Stoops) wants a pro atmosphere. If a kid wants to play in a pro system and be coached like a pro, this is where it's being done." I think QBs, TEs, WRs, et al, will all start to look at UK as a transfer destination, especially if we win 9+ games again this year. If you have aspirations for the next level, UK has the staff and the systems on both sides of the ball to teach you the NFL game so you're ready (at least mentally). How many 'quarterback gurus' in CFB have put their system QB in the NFL? Darn few. Levis, hopefully, is the first of a string of QBs who come to KY, play well for a couple of years in a pro system and move on to success in the league.

Well we weren’t going to sign a 5 star quarterback anyway so …..if star rankings are what is important to you , I can pretty much guarantee there will be options for us in the portal that were ranked higher than any high school quarterback we had a shot at coming out of high school.

Who have you seen play? You don't have to throw a ball through a wall to be a good QB.

You can’t say that without looking at who we have backing up Will until they get there shot

If you have lost a QB battle, we want you.

UK will go after a QB, I don't think there's any doubt about that. However there is about a 90% chance that next year's starter will be either Hogan or Sheron. I think we are short changing both those guys. They are perfectly capable QBs. Next season is going to be about the WRs. We got some really great ones that will be returning. QBs won't be pressured as much to carry the offense. They will be able to just get the ball in the hands of some really good receivers.

The other thing to keep in mind is that even if we get a big time transfer, he won't know the system at all. Having a QB with above average talent that makes the right reads will beat a top notch QB that doesn't know the system and makes bad reads. See Levis the first 6 games last year.

Who was the KY kid that went to Rutgers? If bridges weren't burned, he has 2 years of experience after being heavily recruited by UK.

We have no clue what Hogan is capable of just yet, but we definitely need to bring someone in for competition. Hopefully we get a nice little dose of Hogan tomorrow.

Was UGa's QB highly rated coming out of HS?

Edit: I had to look it up. Bennett was a 2 star out of HS.

I am NOT saying we need a 2-star QB, please don't misunderstand. I agree with your sentiment, that teams need a good QB more often than not. UGa's talent is rare.

I don't there's really any chance it's either of them. That doesn't say anything about them because they'd absolutely start at uk in most years. Instead it speaks to how far out program and offense came.

This staff will literally be getting loads of extremely talented qbs dying to transfer here. They'll get their choice.

Coen thought he had major flaws in his throwing mechanics. I’m betting coach Scan will agree.

I'm sure the SEC/NCAA would fall all over themselves to grant said waver.

He has a brother there too, they are a package deal. Was an Early commit to LSU until Max decided to transfer to ATM and he soon committed there. They are Mark Richt's nephews. The younger brother may have been the top TE in his class, so it's not like he is excess bagage.

I think Allen transferred for a reason.

Either he got the impression that Levis is going to return next year or he saw first hand that one of the other guys is a stud and will very quickly rise up the ranks and take over.

The trajectory this program is on means a transition from being less reliant on guys who couldn’t play at other schools to a place that can get the talent out of high school and develop it.

Obviously Levis is an exceptional talent but generally speaking top tier QB1s do not transfer.

We’re not a struggling program anymore. The talent, depth, staff and over all culture can now support and develop a young QB.

I think Woodson was NFL Caliber, he was at least good enough to lead a college team to a BCS Bowl win, just didn’t quite have enough around him.
