Oooopsies...guess I broke that resolution! Ha!! First......I want to share that I think we should trust and let the coaching staff do their jobs. It is their job and responsibility to develop the players and there is a different path and time frame needed for each player to develop so really do not like to see some of the criticism directed at Cal over playing time. He has to do more to earn his time that is apparent.

Second....I really do love his passing game, they way he runs the floor and with more minutes his 3 point shooting will only improve. I have only been to four games so far this year but of course watched the rest on TV. That said and to be clear I do hope Willis succeeds but he does flat out has to improve his defense on a consistent basis. My take for what it is worth on his defense is that he needs to move his feet, mark his man tighter staying with his man and staying goal side on his defensive positioning. When he gets beat, and they all get beat, then he needs to fight to reestablish goal side position and not reach. When he reaches he either gets called for the foul or it is just too late. Not sure how or if Cal will ever get through to him but sure hope he does. I hope Willis improves because I think he is and will become a more viable contributor. In some games he can really pose a match up problem at the 4 spot. He already is contributing especially if you look at his production per minutes played....a stat that was often stressed a few years ago.

Lastly....if you elect to respond to this thread....feel free to agree or disagree or add a different perspective. My feelings wont be hurt! Please be respectful of the other people who post though. Thanks and Happy New Year! THTB

I fully endorse no more Willis threads due to their whiny nature. If Willis was from TN or AL or about 47 other states, no one would freak out about him so much IMO.

He's doing a decent job of filling his role as basically the 8th man on the team this year, and deserves some run due to his ability to hit some 3's and give some offense off the bench. Needs to improve on D and rebounding though, kinda like Skal in that regard.

Yes, now we can make them Tai posts instead.

Good point. Why ain't Tai playing? Should be the new battle cry of the message board since Willis and Hawkins have both entered the rotation to some extent this year unlike their first two seasons. If Tai was a mid-season add on from the Commonwealth of KY, we'd have a lot more great hope threadds about him.

Willis deserves playing time, just not the amount some think he does.

You be wrong..has nothing to do with whete he is from...he can play
More to the game that hitting 3's. He's certainly getting better, but I don't care so much about him hitting a 3 when he turns around and his man scores 6 straight on him. 6>3 ....make sense?

He's a little rushed sometimes...he has the right idea but it's just not there yet.

Calipari is a defensive coach..people refuse to understand this...his teams always rank high defensively and it's not just because of shot blocking..it's because they rotate, communicate, show, etc, etc so well..Willis still gets lost and that's the reason he gets pulled.

He can get there..but I'm not crying about it if he doesn't play. If EJ Floreal was the guy getting the job done I'd want him in..in other words I don't care who plays as long as it's working. There is 100% another agenda for Willis.
