Oooopsies...guess I broke that resolution! Ha!! First......I want to share that I think we should trust and let the coaching staff do their jobs. It is their job and responsibility to develop the players and there is a different path and time frame needed for each player to develop so really do not like to see some of the criticism directed at Cal over playing time. He has to do more to earn his time that is apparent.
Second....I really do love his passing game, they way he runs the floor and with more minutes his 3 point shooting will only improve. I have only been to four games so far this year but of course watched the rest on TV. That said and to be clear I do hope Willis succeeds but he does flat out has to improve his defense on a consistent basis. My take for what it is worth on his defense is that he needs to move his feet, mark his man tighter staying with his man and staying goal side on his defensive positioning. When he gets beat, and they all get beat, then he needs to fight to reestablish goal side position and not reach. When he reaches he either gets called for the foul or it is just too late. Not sure how or if Cal will ever get through to him but sure hope he does. I hope Willis improves because I think he is and will become a more viable contributor. In some games he can really pose a match up problem at the 4 spot. He already is contributing especially if you look at his production per minutes played....a stat that was often stressed a few years ago.
Lastly....if you elect to respond to this thread....feel free to agree or disagree or add a different perspective. My feelings wont be hurt! Please be respectful of the other people who post though. Thanks and Happy New Year! THTB
