Guys, OP might be onto something. I think something like this, adapted for all sports, would look really sharp.

Orange and white stripes and light blue, all the colors of the beautiful Kentucky sky!

Heck they way things are going we will have a team that will play in green and yellow with UK on the front. Seems like colors do not mean anything to todays youth when it comes to sports teams.

Just want Royal Blue and White, if you want to go traditional the first UK uniforms had yellow in them as well. Heck alternate should have like a small yellow highlight but that is all. Black no, grey no. Just royal blue and white.

The light blue is an old baseball thing. Back when color tvs where brand new, they couldn't display 'white' white very well, so MLB did light blue so the 'white' jerseys looked ok on TV. So, the light blue is just a baseball tradition throwback.

Technically Kentucky’s colors began as a yellowish off white & blue, not blue and white. But I don’t think we’ve had a uniform variation in any sport that tried bringing back the retro color. I’d be in favor of that our incorporating some gold.

I don’t mind it baseball. Relatively common for an alternate uni in MLB with the Phillies, Cardinals, Braves, Cubs, Rangers, Twins, Tampa Bay, Brewers, etc).

But not for basketball or football

Phillies and Cardinals powder blue unis are some of the best in sports. I loved that Houston wore the color last weekend too. Ole Miss should switch their blue to it permanently. White, red, and a powder blue is an awesome and classy color combination. But it's definitely not Kentucky basketball.

I don't like it because it's UNC color way but otherwise I think it looks sweet.
I love alternate jerseys if done right.
