Never thought I would ask this but....

...is it time to switch our focus from this team and this forum and start focusing on the football team and the football forum? I just can't see how this team can improve enough to make any sort of run. I'm looking at 10 losses, a butt whopping by Kansas, out early in the SEC and out in the first weekend of the big show.

Yep. No chance this late in the season this team comes together for a March run. Stick a fork in them.[winking]

For you, yes.

I am going to assume the OP is trolling. We are talking bout UK football, not Alabama...not a lot to be excited about after the disasterous choke job at Vandy and against UL for me. I'll be ready for signing day, but I am pretty confident I can pay attention to UK basketball, college b-ball as a whole, and even some NBA/NHL in addition to that. Intelligent sports' fans have no issue keeping up with multiple sports year round.

Not trolling at all. Just very frustrated with this team. I paid decent money to take my two boys to Brooklyn to see a misrable game. Then, last night they laid a complete egg. I want them to do good but, just can't see how they have what it takes. I hope I am very wrong. Conversely, I am excited about next years recruits for bball and for football. Also excited about the two new fball hires. Stranger things have certainly happened. I just can't see it. Note, this does not make me a bad person or a troll.

The butt whooping from Kansas is REAL talk . I'm scared of that one. I remember when Tubby got destroyed there by 30. It could be bad. They owe us one too. Lol fyuk

What the hell do you think UK Football is going to do ? The SEC East is only getting stronger. Focusing on UK Football in January. LOL! Kill me now.

Going to see a sporting event is a risk...you could get a blowout win, a blowout loss, a close win or close loss. You pay for the experience, nothing beyond seeing the game is guaranteed. If you wanted to see a NEAR safe win you should have went to the NJIT game like I did lol.

I am very excited about next year, but I am not giving up on this season. They probably won't make the Final Four, but if you are old enough to have sat thorugh some of the Hall, Smith and the two drunk years, surely you are used to some down years. I apologize for the trolling comment, but it amazes me a UK fan would stop watching or give up on the season with 17 regular season games to go.

It doesn't make you a troll but seem like a fair weathered fan for sure. So should we just tune this team out because they are not a bonofide final four lock, in early Janurary? Sorry you paid top dollar to see the OSU mess but that is just sports. I'm beyond frustrated with how we played last night, but I'm just not giving up at yet. Especially to get excited about UK football. If KU lays a beatdown on us so what, we did the same last year and beat them for a title in 12.

As a sports fan you just got to take the good with the bad. If you were able to survive the end of the Tubby years, BGC years, and 2013 you can most certainly make it through this. Cal has a ton of work to do, and a lot will be on him. However, he has shown he knows how to get his teams ready for the NCAAT.

Get frustrated, vent, curse, but never give up on your team.

Especially a true fan. Keep on instigating just remember what our seasons end up as vs what you haters want.

It's the same thing every year, they are teenagers, kids playing a game but all these fans want to dog them out like they have a right to.

Putting on the blue still carries a lot of weight. You have a target on your back every game from every opponent. The elite players all know that and coming here wether they are one and done or not still means more to them then what fans will give them credit for. How often do they say It's Kentucky when asked why.

They have to deal with players that want to beat them, coaches that love to get a win vs UK. It never ends, every game, every season, now, before Cal and will be after Cal. Probably more so after Cal. Every Kentucky player since I have been following them has had to deal with that. Give them credit for putting the uniform on for us and accepting that challenge.

Yet our fan base looks for every little thing to rip them apart. These kids work their butts off as students, players, having good characters, becoming adults (many before their not done being a teenager).

If you can't appreciate what they provide for us as a fan base you will never enjoy being a fan.
Yes, been an avid fan since 1960, and have loved every minute of it without any self inflicted misery from a game played by kids for my entertainment and enjoyment and I thank them for it. That's all it is.

We're the all time winningest program in the history of collage basketball. Cal has not only added to that legacy but has dominated over his period of time in Coach Rupps seat. No appreciation.

I feel sorry for a bunch of you. Really do.

Does the OP even Kentucky Football?

Hope springs eternal for UK football fans in the New Year every year cause we do not have much to enjoy come the actually football season. I like the OC hire, I really do...but will he do well here? I have my doubts based on the last two OCs. Eventually when you keep bringing him solid to good OC's that have had success elsewhere and they have issues here it is either one or two things. 1. The players just are not good enough and 2. The HC is not letting the OC do his thing as well as he should.

I mean to be honest, if you want to put your eggs in that basket you're in for a rude awakening come fall. Best bet is to give these boys a chance.

Or 3. The program is just a graveyard that will never be successful in the grand scheme.

Just feeling very bitter towards football right now after that abysmal run at the end of the season. [sick]

This why some people should been seen and not heard , or read and not post in this case !!

Excited about football recruits? Ok but what about the basketball recruits? Should be #1 class. Not excited about that?

BlueBarry . . . I completely and intensely share your views about this team and its coach.

You do realize that the 2010-11 team had 9 losses and went all the way to the finals of the NCAA tournament?

You can stop crying about that now, everybody has a story to tell about going to a bad game. My late brother went to only TWO Ncaa games in his life where KY played. One, was the year that we played Middle Tennessee when JoeB was coach and we were upset. And he went to the FF and saw the game against Georgetown, which was another terrible game to watch, so as you can see everyone probably feels cheated when they get upset or beaten badly like last night's game was.

We all hope you two are very happy wherever you go. I hear some local schools need fans in the stands, good luck.

If only we could've beaten duke or lewisville community college. Got some high profile wins. Things like that would sure make this year's journey better.

I know man, no team in history who has lost three games by January has ever done anything. I bet all the duke fans are so glad they quit watching last year when Miami blew them out by 30...they were wasting their time.

We're coming off a season where we only lost one game. Give the fringe fans some time to adjust to dropping a few. They don't realize it happens occasionally. (Note: that does not justify anything that happened last night though)

Or that championship UCONN team that got blown out by 34 in their conference tournament right before MM. Ol' Husky fans shoulda just thrown in the towel

Football season has been on my mind since the UCLA Game. I'm just uninterested in this basketball team. Why you ask ??? Well this team is as boring as Some of Tubbys worst teams.

Did Tubby in his worst years ever beat Louisville and Duke in the same year? What's boring is watching a team that doesn't know how to battle every game, but Cal will make it happen.

If fair weathered fan is a person who started watching the cats in the early 70's then I guess that is me. As for giving up, I think I am being realistic. Let's see how close I am when it is all said and done. As I said, I am very excited about next season.

Sorry, I should have said all is great. This team is great. We are winning every game the rest of the way. I don't know what the heck I was thinking. Please please please forgive me. That too would be great!

This is just another example of a UK fan who lacks objectivity & forms subjective opinions after a very bad game. Good grief! 2010-11, 2013-14...go study those schedules & results indepth. In fact see in you can go back & read this board in the archives during those 2 seasons as we lost 6 SEC games each of those seasons. 2013-14 we lost our last game of the season by 21...then ran to the final 4 & national championship game. Younger inexperienced pieces....and it takes much longer to pull it together.

No way this team compares to last years Duke team. I hate their guts but they had more ability than we have. C'mon man!
