It's hilarious how some are crying about getting called out after savaging this kid with zero information. Not all of the ones complaining were that ugly about it, but some were. But we are supposed to just forget what they said and stare into the MIB neurolyzer.
I'll respond to this post because you're definitely one of the more understanding posters.
Diallo did what he said he'd do, and I doubted strongly how much he wanted to be here. What's made me happiest of all was reading his comments about returning and playing for UK. He wants to be here, and some will have to forgive me but after Briscoe's comments and leaving without a draft pick, watching last years team laughing while getting beat by 20 ( I know some roll eyes here but I hated it), and then a potential none and done who possibly used UK ( no one knew for sure), some of the issues the last few years just seemed to get to some people; especially while averaging a sweet 16 the last few years (below our usual).
After 8 years of Cal, I think there is just some build up. I know fans who don't like the system, sure. When they see UNC and Duke winning championships the last 5 years, then teams like Villanova (with upperclassman) winning it, they grow tired. Throw in a potential none and done? I mean come on, you see where I'm going. Not speaking about myself personally, but I understand what those guys are feeling. Not saying they are correct, or totally incorrect.
Calipari is a lightening Rod, and he's changed the entire culture of college basketball. I expect men who've followed Kentucky for 50 + years to have trouble with this.
I hate seeing younger fans attack and rip up our older ones over these misunderstandings ( and that's a lot of what's happening). I don't think Cal would want that either.
