I’m with you on this. For the life of me, I don't understand the love Burton gets from the staff. Very inconsistent. Gets blown up a few plays every game. Whiffs on a block or two every game. Just is not much better than adequate but staff continues to rave about his play and potential. Baffling to me.

They are dead set on running the outside zone blocking scheme. That requires a more athletic type of Olineman . The roadgraders we used to have wouldn’t have been very successful at it either.THis is my biggest beef with Stoops...he's lost the physical identity at LOS that we used to be push around average to bad teams....now it's gone and we decide to keep Yenser....why? I have a feeling Coen is the driving force behind this move as well and mandating to run this outside zone scheme that we just can't execute upon.
As far as the Oline being much different in 2024....there is no way I can buy that.
1. Marques Cox, Eli Cox, Jager Burton and at this point....I assume Courtland Ford is penciled in at RT....maybe competing with Dylan Ray. The only new players may be at guard with Ben Chrisman and Florida transfer might grab a spot. But I don't see this group being an average to above average OIine....so the trend goes on.
2. UK tried the run the ball in 2nd half....and basically could not establish the run to burn clock. It was constant 2nd a 9, etc... and we had to pass.....which was effective for some plays and other times was a disaster.
In the end, keeping Yenser signals to me Stoops isn't all that serious when he states we need to get back to physical LOS....Yenser is mutually exclusive to being able to run the ball efficiently
Ok..if true why recruit kids like Grant Bingham, Marc Nave, Hayes Johnson, etc. and Ben Chrisman and other Oline portal guys don’t fit this same criteriaThey are dead set on running the outside zone blocking scheme. I don’t disagree with you. I’m kinda wondering if those types of olinemen are like edge rushers, extremely hard to find and usually go to the top football schools . You can take a slow guy with a big frame , put him in the weight room for a couple years , feed him a bunch of calories and teach him leverage and fundamentals and create a guy that can move people . Doing that while staying athletic and agile is a completely different story. I’m not sure it’s the path we want to go down. But what do I know.Ok..if true why recruit kids like Grant Bingham, Marc Nave, Hayes Johnson, etc. and Ben Chrisman and other Oline portal guys don’t fit this same criteria
I just feel like it’s a scheme way to complex for college kids that have four years to learn and transition body to college size
We’re pissing away years trying to fit this scheme
