Curious what you guys are thinking after playing some top talent. We are 3 games in and shot bad from the 3. The complaint was we need a bucket guy. This version of Pope’s offense is still vanilla, it gets a lot better. So the question is are you still nervous we are 1 bucket guy short or are you guys starting to buy in yet?

I think this game showed there does need to be a guy (or two) that can create when the flow of the offense isn't. Duke played really good defense, and the normal offensive flow didn't look good most of the night.

However, there are currently 3 guys who are creators: Carr in the post, Butler/Oweh on drives.

The difference is the COACH now puts those guys in the best positions to take advantage. Carr was setting screens to create switches SO THAT he would have a smaller defender on the block...mismatch - advantage Cats

Butler/Oweh are capable at getting into the lane and finishing b/c there are multiple perimeter threats on the floor.

I gotta admit, that and 1 by Carr surprised me at the end. I also thought they got a little away from the offense for awhile and started some individual stuff. Duke’s defense is pretty good. They made some good adjustments that made it difficult for UK as well.

Yes, we still need a solid get a bucket guy. It never hurts to have that.

I will say I was impressed that Pope adjusted and we won a "rock fight"; I feel better that we can grind it out IF the need arises.

We still could use that guy that can go get a bucket when needed to jump start some flow.
