Just thinking which matchups I'd like to see : and why.... Here's some !

dUKe v Tennessee
if they give the East to dUKe, then I'd love to see the Vols finally get to an elite eight and play the Blue Devils, if they could somehow make it that far, which I don't think they will. But if it does happen, then I'd like to see that game for sure. Would be fine to see the Vols make their first final four beating dUKe !
(did I just throw up in my mouth a little bit just there? yech)

St. John's vs Auburn
I think Michigan State would really give Auburn fits. In more ways than one. But the matchup I would like to see Auburn get, if they get far enough would be to see them go up against the Johnnies. Must see TV right there.

Houston vs. Alabama
They have had some incredible games played between them the past couple years, including earlier this year in OT, which the Tide won. I'd like to see a 1-2 matchup if they could make it far. That would be a great regional final.

Other random thoughts :

Marquette vs Texas A&M or Georgia : Interior defense and rebounding has been a main concern for them this year from the beginning. I think a team like Texas A&M ( offensive rebounding juggernaut) or Georgia (with size at all five positions) would be a bad draw for Marquette, but a great game to see how they would handle Kam Jones. Players like Kam Jones, I want to see go up against the SEC caliber athletes. Either one of those SEC teams get a shot at Marquette, it'll be an interesting game.

Potential 6 seeds to play for Kentucky ?
UCLA ? ok. BYU . NO. that's just blatantly transparent for a storyline, and I'd say NO in so many ways to that. A true lose lose game. Louisville - the same. Maybe someone like Illinois ? Might be a really tough matchup, that one. I'd pass. Maybe they can get Kansas up there to a 6 seed. Put Arkansas as an 11 seed to play Kansas. I'd take that right now. Better yet -make it Indiana !

3) Kentucky
14 - Troy
6) Kansas
11) Arkansas vs. Indiana

YES sign me up now. That even sounds like something the S.C. would think up and have the gall to put out there (even though that would be badly transparent and ridiculous to come up with that)

I won't mind seeing maybe a team like Vanderbilt get a 8 or 9 seed and play a game against someone like UConn as a 8 or 9. The winner to play dUKe. I'd love to see that come selection Sunday.

East
1)dUKe
16) American
8) Vandy
9) UConn

Another game I'd like to see, should it come around ?

Houston vs. Tennessee. First to 50 and first blood shed at the torso wins. I'd settle for a Tennessee Iowa State matchup for the same as well.

As far as Florida ....

I think the title game could come down to the two teams I think really have the best teams out there this year. Florida vs. Houston in the title game would be a real crazy game. I'm not sure Houston could hang with the Gators though. Bad matchup for them. But a title game between the two would be really intense.

And for fun thought :

Should Kentucky make the title game, then let it be against another SEC team this year. That would be a great Final Four. Kentucky with another SEC team at least making 2 from our conference to get there. Like in 96.

I'd like our chances......

St. Johns I think goes out early. Overrated. They are ranked in the top 10 yet didn't play one team this season currently ranked in the KenPom top 25. The best team they played is Marquette, ranked #26.

St. John’s losing early according to Smashcat. Getting a pen to Marquette down.

…ill see myself out

Match-ups I'd like to see
KU vs Duke
Ark vs BYU
Auburn vs UH
Ala vs St Johns
UL UT
Hadnt thought of those, but that's a great list right there, Doc.

I think Houston getting the rematch with either Auburn or Alabama this year, I'd take Houston on a neutral court. I doubt either AU or Bama either one would beat them twice this year. If they meet again, and it looks like it would have to be deep into the brackets, it would be a huge game.

Just got home from the Horizon League tourney in Indy. I attended last year as well. I saw Oakland and knew they’d be a bad matchup for UK.

This year it’s Robert Morris, also a likely 14 seed. Dont want to see them matched up with UK.

They are a 15 in the bracket sites I follow. If we can't beat a 14 seed then we shouldn't be playing anyway.

St. Johns vs. Auburn
Kentucky vs. St. Johns

Can't believe I didn't stop to think about a potential St. John's vs. Louisville matchup. Which actually seems possible and even likely, knowing the S.C. It could become a 3 vs. 6 seed matchup potentially.

Could they setup a potential (7) Kansas vs. Michigan State (2) ? Those teams are a LOT different since they met in November.

As far as favorable 2 - 3 matchup potential teams for Kentucky.... I'm wondering if Texas Tech might be the team I wouldn't mind seeing as our potential 2 seed. I think we matchup favorably with them. Michigan State is the one team I would NOT want to see as a 2 seed. I wouldn't like that matchup at all.

It's all fun thinking of the possibilities !
