NCAA

NCAA is not going to turn a blind eye to improper benefits before NIL. It's the reason Tn has a reduction in scholarships, and why some of their former coaches have "show-causes."

I want to win. I want Mitch to push the envelope with NIL.

I don't want to cheat! I don't want to be what UL, UT, and others have recently been!

NCAA needs to make an announcement this week. I don't blame Mitch or Compliance for doing what they are SUPPOSED to do.
And hopefully our transparency will be appreciated by the NCAA and these two will not have the book thrown at them.
Honesty is always the best policy,
One of the 10 commandments is thy shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
God may very well allow UK to beat the Gators on Sat. without Crod as opposed to allowing us to lose with him for not reporting.

Maybe with the current NCAA transparency would help, not with past NCAAs. With Mumme Era cheating UK cooperated fully with NCAA, cut scholarships themselves only to have the NCAA absolutely eviscerate the program with massive penalties, set the program back a decade. Now the NCAA ignores the UNCs, U6s, TNs of the world...slap with a wet noodle.

Then there's the case of the USC transfer to TN. This POS bitch-slapped his girlfriend, was suspended from the football team, served his suspension and was reinstated at USC only to bitch-slap his girl AGAIN, was suspended then kicked off the USC team and also booted out of school. What does he do" Transfers to TN and the NCAA made him immediately eligible to play....days before TN's first game. What BS!!!
No one ever accused NCAA of making good decisions.

I'm certainly not defending NCAA or UT. The only info I know is 30 second search.
But the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declined to file charges due to insufficient evidence in what it referred to as a “he said, she said domestic violence” case.

USC’s Title IX investigation was dropped in February because McCoy’s ex-girlfriend told USC she would not cooperate in a hearing or grant the school access to her medical records, the Los Angeles Times reported.

This guy may not win citizen of the year, but it appears charges were dropped and the girlfriend would not cooperate with USC.

Still don't want him around my daughter!

Ok Mitch.

If you wanted to play a hypothetical game of mystery singer except mystery ad; I can guarantee the judges would 10/10 guess this was an issue reported by the AD with the buttoned top polo button.

10/10. Maybe 100/100

I'm saying the head of the department is responsible for reporting infractions!

Any improper benefits before NIL MUST be reported. It really is that simple. Hiding things eventually bites programs in the butt.

Would you rather have Mitch hide it from NCAA, play CROD for whole season, then live the next 3 years with NCAA making decision to whether or not to make us forfeit wins for playing an ineligible player? Or, report the infraction, make recommendation of punishment to NCAA, then move ahead with full disclosure.

I want to win, but I don't want to cheat to get there. This should be simple. Did CRod receive impermissible benefit? When? How much? Recommend a suspension, then ... move on.
I think this is spot on. If MB knows and does not act, and then NCAA finds out about it, then there is added a charge of lack of institutional control by the NCAA. That charge is usually the one that gets everyone's attention and causes the enforcement hammer to come down.

I hate the way the NCAA seems to selectively enforce its rules and I am no fan of MB. However, there really was no choice in this situation. I want to win as much as any UK fan but not by ignoring NCAA rules, no matter how inept or corrupt the NCAA may be.

Dude

You don't know what happened in Knoxville?

Ncaa didn't investigate jack squat. They didn't turn a blind eye at them or anyone in 2 yrs.

Knoxville self reported EVERYTHING. and did so to get rid of Pruitt & staff while paying 0.00 in buyout. And are writing and crafting the """punishments""" themselves. Didn't even give themselves a bowl ban!!! Mizzou got slapped with one 2 yrs ago for next to nothing.

In the end the Ncaa will dust their hands off on their GREAT investigation, which was all delivered on a platter, and say "look at us, brave and dedicated servants keeping college athletics free of cheaters!!!!"

While at the same damn time the new coaching staff uses and abuses NIL purchases of recruits. With zero fear of punishment.

Question for all the "Mitch just following the rules, Mitch just doing what he is supposed to....": name me another NCAA College Football Player right now, 2022 season, waiting to play due to NCAA investigation. Out of 131 D1 schools, who else besides CRod & Jordan Wright?

Agree 110%.

Ignoring the issue would potentially cause it to become much bigger.

I'm still in "wait and see" with Mitch as we move into NIL. But, I can't put blame on him for how he's handling this CROD issue.

Heard from 2 UK employees the alleged “real” story. I dont know if it’s been published here yet, but it sounds pretty bad. I can share if wanted but it’s hearsay on campus. Did hear the same thing from 2 unrelated people tho

also prefer not to get flames as again I have no sources, just 2 uk non football employees

Sure, UT wanted rid of Pruitt with cause so they didn't have to pay him his buyout.

UT self-imposed scholarship reductions, # of days they can recruit, etc ...

Do you think NCAA would have stopped with these sanctions if UT did not impose?

Yeah, I don't understand why people think UK should ignore this. This is reason universities have compliance departments.

Some people want to win at all costs and cheating is a non-issue. I ignore these people. Every fanbase has them.

Other people seem logical, but want our AD and compliance department to thumb their nose at NCAA and rules. (Few people respect NCAA and their previous decisions. I agree, but that's a different topic!)

Sorry, but you are so misinformed on the UT situation and spreading falsehoods concerning their NIL deals with players is just wrong.

NIL is NOT THE REASON why UT has a reduction in scholarships and some ex coaches have a show cause. It had nothing to do with NIL.
Pre-NIL UT and their coaches were paying players in cold hard cash in McDonald's bags. Just like the French fries. Cold and hard.

So UT self reported their own cheating because Pruitt was an ignorant loser and they used the cheating to break his contract.

UT NIL paying RECRUITS to come to UT is alive and well..........and the NCAA knows it and hasn't sounded a peep about it.

Stop posting things are untrue to justify how our AD and compliance department have decided to handle NIL issues by engaging the NCAA. IF this is what they have done.

The NCAA has chosen to turn a blind eye to paying players. It is an issue that neither the NCAA nor MB can change no matter how much they dislike the looks of it.

I am sure the NCAA just as soon MB didn't dump that turd in heir lap. They will continue to ignore it, IMO.

NCAA would have NEVER KNOWN ABOUT THE CHEATING if UT hadn't self reported in order to can Pruitt.

The NCAA didn't investigate any of this. Took UT's word and punishment for it.
MB has the SAME OPTION with CRod. Self impose a 1 game suspension, report to NCAA the questionable issue, along with steps taken to remedy the situation and punishment involved, and then............IF that is not sufficient for NCAA, force THEM to suspend your best player over NIL and do their own investigation.

Stop declaring your own players ineligible and then be forced to wait on the NCAA to decide if and when that player can become eligible again.

That's insane.

Calipari reported it.
THAT has been in the back of my mind ever since that big blowup between Cal and CMS.

Not saying Cal necessarily, but some basketball only insider possibly????

Who was the whistle blower??

Where is the local media in all this drama/ mystery?????

Hopefully what MJ is reporting comes to fruition. Wright plays v UF, CRod back at Ole Miss.
Probably best case scenario now for sure that the NCAA is involved.
They hate us. In fact I wouldnt rule out a CRod public flogging administered by that douche bag Emmert.
Isn't emmert gone?

It's his JOB to make sure it's reported!

I didn't dispute that. Under the current set of compliance expectations, I'm sure it is. That's the problem and what my post focused on.

It's his job to set compliance expectations in the current climate. Not the climate of yesteryear. Under no circumstances should any potential impermissible benefits be a compliance issue in terms of eligibility. None. At most an issue like this is a small violation of the internal nil compliance and approval process and certainty of no impact on eligibility.

The fact he let this mentality or expectations stay on the books in the nil landscape is atrocious and totally inexcusable.

Calipari reported it.

Nah. It has to come out of that arrest because it was basically a simultaneous issue. That means they found out about it in one of 3 ways 1) he was driving one of their vehicles at the time of the offense, 2) the income on his financial affidavit raised a red flag, or 3) someone was notified he was (or should've been) terminated as the insurance probably wouldn't cover him anymore to drive for work

For anyone that doesn't know, when someone is arrested they fill out a financial affidavit as part of the process. That helps the courts determine if they are eligible for a public defender.

Plus NIL has nothing to do with fudging on time sheets for work not performed.
Not sure why so many are playing the NIL card as it could very well have abso freaking lutely nothing to do with NIL.
Fudging on time sheets is NOT an NCAA violation. Should never have gone to the NCAA for clarification.

So why hasn’t the ncaa stepped in and told Alabama they can’t have their DC until they complete their review as he had a DUI as well during the offseason. Also UT blatantly cheated by paying players and from everything I have read they will not be getting penalized by the ncaa as the ncaa has no more teeth according to their insiders. Help this make sense? I thought the ncaa was on the way out in terms of actual power and ability to govern the sport. This just doesn’t add up and makes me believe Barnhart concocted this report in order to be able to do nothing. Mitch needs to go or the ncaa needs to make a ruling if they really are the ones making the decision here.

No

Do you think the NCAA would have found out about bags of McDonald's money if Pruitt didn't lose to Kentucky by 3 touchdowns?

Anybody found any other D1 football players right now waiting to play pending NCAA clearance? I don't think the waiting line for CRod & Wright is that long!!!

However, to ask about other players is to assume the NCAA is consistent. The only thing the NCAA is consistent about is that they are inconsistent.

May want to read my post again. I clearly write UT’s issues were “before NIL.”

If you throw the ball into their court with out lawyering up you are asking for trouble. Rozelle told the NCAA anything you say we did wrong you are right. How did that work for our BB team. Off the top of my head don’t think anyone has been on probation as bad as we had it.

If this is true, it's 100% due to some self reporting bs from top button Mitch. The NCAA doesn't even bother to investigate schools openly paying players to entice them to play; in clear and blatant violation of the only rule left.

Just unbelievable.

If this really turns out to be a self reporting issue over time cards.... I don't see how Mitch can ever get back in the good graces of football fans
I don't know who reported it. The guys that know the situation say Mitch is actually fighting for the FB team and trying to get them back. Wright should play Sat. CRod will still be out 2 more games

If this were the case Barney should tell the ncaa what happened and say this is what we are doing about it. Not ask for their guidance. Those days are over we ve been screwed too much by the ncaa being the nice guy while others win doing far worse. No this is smoke and mirrors garbage. Barney is stuck in 2005 with his mindset

Whatever is going on with CRod has been known for months. Barney still had zero answer from the ncaa bc they are wondering who would ask such a question. And if Barney really cared and fought for our athletes and fans he would have demanded answers from the ncaa by now instead of letting this turn into a massive distraction. Instead of allowing all the rumors to persist. Is a year wait quick enough for you Mitch? Last year the ncaa had some last second transfers to ok. You know what? They dealt with them fast and it was outside of the 1 time transfer rule. This is one player who may not have even broken a rule. I mean nil was going on last season too so are we gonna forfeit all those games? This is a farce people!
