NCAA

This article makes it sound better but I simply dont trust the NCAA esp. in regards to UK. The article says UK was expecting Wright to be cleared by the NCAA Tuesday and surprise, surprise…nothing.

If this is true, it's 100% due to some self reporting bs from top button Mitch. The NCAA doesn't even bother to investigate schools openly paying players to entice them to play; in clear and blatant violation of the only rule left.

Just unbelievable.

If this really turns out to be a self reporting issue over time cards.... I don't see how Mitch can ever get back in the good graces of football fans

By self reporting, if that IS what happened, Mitch and Sandy have thrown the UK Football program into the paralysis of the NCAA over the NIL issue.

The NCAA will NEVER make a decision on NIL. Too big of a risk for their existence. Thus, this issue will likely sit in someone's inbox until Congress acts.

Goodbye 2022. We hardly knew ye.

Sometimes trying to do the "right thing" when the NCAA doesn't even know what the " right thing" is, apparently, borders on insanity and incompetence.

Why would you do that to your own program??

Why would you punish these young men for an unknown NCAA ruling?????

IF, IF, this is about an NIL situation, MB and SB should both be asked to leave the University. And, if not, then the university should be held responsible for their actions......JMO

I SAID IF.

Having CRod makes us much better but not having him doesn’t derail our season, the sky is not falling
It's not about " the sky is falling" bs, not even about the season for me.

It is about right and wrong. Why are our players held to a different standard than players at every other school?

If CRod was at ANY OTHER SCHOOL IN THE SEC not named Vandy, he would be driving a Lamborghini and have a 6 figure bank account.

And the NCAA would never say crap about it. So why should WE question it ???

Feels like no win situation. Report him and be at the mercy of the NCAA or role the dice and play him and risk vacating wins. Hindsight is 20/20 regardless.
Hopefully what MJ is reporting comes to fruition. Wright plays v UF, CRod back at Ole Miss.
Probably best case scenario now for sure that the NCAA is involved.
They hate us. In fact I wouldnt rule out a CRod public flogging administered by that douche bag Emmert.

Let me clarify what I mean by self reporting. I don't think the school self reported an infraction. I think they declared crod ineligible themselves and are asking the NCAA to reinstate him. Same thing they did with John wall and some other basketball players.

That's the only thing that fits. Doesn't make it any less ridiculous in this nil day and age.

No way the NCAA ever even cares about this if we don't self report it. They don't even have the resources to investigate schools outright buying players. Hell didn't they even recently disband their enforcement committee pending only the existing major infractions cases?
This is why I keep harkening back to the Curse of the Bear. Nothing else makes sense so why rule it out?

Look, I respect all opinions, but please, Just stop. None of us even knew anything really at all until today, and even now we don't know why they are suspended, any specifics at all or who made the report and call on the suspension other than its up to the NCAA at this point- so when you make wild accusations and statements like why are our players held to different standards, or driving this or this school does that, its just pure irrational fanhood speculation and anger. I hope for C-Rod and Wright that this gets cleared up soon so they can get their lives back on track, sometimes things are bigger than football and this is one of them. Then, I hope we can turn our attention to winning games. For now, I won't speculate because I made that mistake when it was said it was due to timesheet fraud and the truth is we have no idea and probably never will due to their legal rights.

HAHAHAHA, Mitch self reporting some payments for work not done. In 2022. When every other school in America serious about competing treats the AA as the empty toothless joke that it has become.

Perfect. Absolute perfection. The morons in Indianapolis will get around to reviewing UK player's being cleared to play around Halloween. If you really think those power-hungry anti sport anti athlete idiots will treat this with ANY urgency or speed, that's on you.

If Mitch self reported then I want him gone. 3 strikes you’re out bud. Doesn’t matter how good you were, you’re actively impeding the success of your two most important programs.

Exactly right....

1. This is absurd to self report this in today's open paying players environment. Alabama and Texas AM basically called each other cheating to the media and has been for a long time...yet not one player will be held out, not one investigation will happen, etc..
2. Is the NCAA even a legit organization that can punish anymore with what is resulting in a SEC and Big10 divisions? Do they even have jurisdiction to punish UK for this?

This is small weiner mindset. Mitch would rather bitch and whine that others don't play by rules instead of just winning damn games and dare NCAA to slap a penalty. Loser mentality all the way around.

Gotta love when the owners don’t even spell Mattys name right😂

my sources told me the exact opposite. They said it’s crod waiting to decide what to do with the ncaa

Is this not simple? It’s always about money.
Florida gets more viewers. It’s more beneficial for them to keep Florida alive than Uk.
This is why they can’t be taken seriously

My questions about Mitch and NIL are clearly stated in another post. But, I don't know how Mitch can be blamed for this.

The purpose of a compliance office is To report any violations. Sounds like the violations were prior to NIL. (Complete guess based on rumors about time sheets.)

The only response is to: 1) Report violation. 2) Assess internal discipline (suspension) 3) Submit to NCAA for approval.

I'm guessing our athletic department made a recommendation on number of games for CRod to be suspended. We're now waiting to hear back from NCAA.

I don't see how any of this is on Mitch unless someone is predisposed to blame everything on Mitch. (Again, I expressed my concerns with Mitch related to NIL in another post. I am not a Mitch apologist. But, I don't blame him for everything.)

Plus NIL has nothing to do with fudging on time sheets for work not performed.
Not sure why so many are playing the NIL card as it could very well have abso freaking lutely nothing to do with NIL.

It's on Mitch because he sets the compliance tone. Following nil, all expectations should've been reset.

Nothing like this should ever be an issue in today's college athletics. Improper (financial) benefits is a dead concept. If they wanted, the hospital could literally pay him for doing nothing and it's of no eligibility concern.

At worst this an internal compliance issue because crod didn't strictly comply with the internal nil and aoc process. Nothing more.

True. But now, we do know this. It is in the hands of the NCAA to decide when our all SEC RB and starting DE will be eligible to play again.

Unless you were born yesterday, you know there is a CHANCE that the NCAA will never declare them eligible and just let their eligibility run out.

How did the NCAA get involved in this??????
Hmmmm...

There is some good news.

I heard the NCAA would make them both immediately eligible......
Right after they make Enos Kantor eligible.

We are UK.

Remember that Mitch has a boss.

Remember that Mitch has a boss.
Unfortunately, typically the University President will defer to the AD in matters concerning athletes since they usually don't have a clue about that side of the college world.

For Dr. Capiluto to overrule MB would mean the end of MB as AD.

Barney needed to deal with this stuff in house not notify te ncaa over something much less than what other programs are doing. He wants all the accolades but no accountability. This is all Barney’s doing the ncaa has nada to do with it.

Seems like this is Mitch's way of saying, not my problem, NCAA its on you, knowing good and well, the NCAA gets in no hurry about anything.
Bingo.
Chicken $hit way out of having to make a decision. Declare him ineligible and let the NCAA decide.

Lack of leadership.

They're probably like "LOL wut"

NCAA is not going to turn a blind eye to improper benefits before NIL. It's the reason Tn has a reduction in scholarships, and why some of their former coaches have "show-causes."

I want to win. I want Mitch to push the envelope with NIL.

I don't want to cheat! I don't want to be what UL, UT, and others have recently been!

NCAA needs to make an announcement this week. I don't blame Mitch or Compliance for doing what they are SUPPOSED to do.

Then there's the case of the USC transfer to TN. This POS bitch-slapped his girlfriend, was suspended from the football team, served his suspension and was reinstated at USC only to bitch-slap his girl AGAIN, was suspended then kicked off the USC team and also booted out of school. What does he do" Transfers to TN and the NCAA made him immediately eligible to play....days before TN's first game. What BS!!!

So you’re saying the head of the dept isn’t to blame?
I'm saying the head of the department is responsible for reporting infractions!

Any improper benefits before NIL MUST be reported. It really is that simple. Hiding things eventually bites programs in the butt.

Would you rather have Mitch hide it from NCAA, play CROD for whole season, then live the next 3 years with NCAA making decision to whether or not to make us forfeit wins for playing an ineligible player? Or, report the infraction, make recommendation of punishment to NCAA, then move ahead with full disclosure.

I want to win, but I don't want to cheat to get there. This should be simple. Did CRod receive impermissible benefit? When? How much? Recommend a suspension, then ... move on.
