NCAA Tournament

I was wondering about that. Curious as to why. Covid?

NCAA is a cash racket. For the tournament the host school owes the NCAA an automatic $25,000 (IIRC) and then they make a certain percentage over and above that based upon the profit of the school. So, the more fans, the more the NCAA makes. ODU stadium holds just 2500. South Carolina stadium can fit over 8000.

Of course that’s the game.

Interesting to see Maryland in the tourney. It was just a few years ago that Maryland was only giving out something like 7 of the 11.7 baseball scholarships available. Shows what emphasis on the program and hiring the right coach can do.
What about the filthy orange?

I believe for 2021 the regional sites were predetermined earlier in the week regardless of how the bracket played out, and ODU declined the opportunity to host. But even if USC didnt make the tournament, a regional was going to be in Columbia.

For instance had Alabama softball not won their regional, Kentucky would have still traveled to Tuscaloosa for the Super to play whomever defeated Alabama. Where in years past UK wouldve hosted the Super being the seeded team had Bama been eliminated.

Not surprised...really haven't checked U6 situation, but UK was/is certainly undeserving! Now time to step up and make the change for UK bb program and its fans! Question though...could U6 hiccup make DM listen to LSU, A&M others?
Sullivan, the Florida coach is LSU's # 1 target.

I think Florida is as good a job as LSU, possibly better due to the fertile recruiting grounds and climate. When it comes to money I would bet Florida can match anything LSU puts on the table.

A week or two ago they listed 20 places that were potential host sites. I think it was actually the week UK played USC and they were listed as a potential host with a similar conference record as UK. They swept us and clearly got over the hump to host.

In baseball I don't think it works that way. I think the highest seed would host the super regional. For instance, in 2018 Georgia was a top 8 seed. They lost in the regional and Texas Tech, the 9 seed, hosted the supers. Also that year, Tennessee Tech knocked off 4 seed Ole Miss, so the tournament headed to Austin to be hosted by 13th seed Texas.
