NBA Scout on UK Players

I've been telling everybody he'd be back next year. I don't understand anybody saying he's still a top 10 pick. Or even a 1st round pick. He needs to come back next year about 25lbs heavier. He'll have a year of experience under his belt and should be one of the best big men in the country. But here's the thing. If he's gonna come back with experience and strength and still play like a p***y. Then I don't want him back. I'd rather have Bolden.

People say this every year, and they're always wrong.

I agree. Ulis, Murray, Briscoe, Poythress, and probably Lee will all get drafted. Skal will get drafted, too, although his stock is crumbling to pieces.

He's really the only guy who, right now, could use another year. Of course, he has about 90 days left of college basketball - plenty of time to preserve a first round spot.

It won't be a given, however. People act like there are a multitude of GMs ready to risk a top 10 pick on Skal. If GMswere hesitant about guys like Noel and Randle as top 5 picks, there's no way in hell a GM takes Skal top 10 at this point, and probably not even in the lottery either.

And I thought Haitians were supposed to be tough? Look at Junior Galette. OLB in the NFL. He's Haitian and he's out on the beach beating people's a**'s with a belt. Skal's weak and scared.

Skal ought to go to big man camp next summer and come back. Problem is theres a log jam in the front court for next year.

We're all making the assumption that SKJ is physically ready to make a high contribution as a frosh. Many of the same people thought Matthews would contribute on a high level offensively to this current team - he hasn't.

I don't expect SKJ to make a huge contribution in year one. Skal could come back and play alongside Bam. Humphries and Wynyard still possess a burden of proving they're rotation players, and Calipari won't play them just because they're wearing a UK jersey. They have to earn their minutes. Cal had no problem sitting out a junior Harrelson and a senior Stevenson virtually the whole season in 2009-2010.

Skal, Bam, Willis (Cal likes him as a stretch 4) and SKJ could round out the frontline rotation, with cameos from Tai or Isaac.

Put Fox, Monk, Gabriel, and Matthews as the main guard and wing rotation. Hawkins as a dependable senior would give UK a great 5th perimeter option next year, plus you still have Mulder with a year to get better and make a contribution.

It's seriously like SKAL doesn't even try when he's in the game. He plays like a damn feather...

Skal should take the WCS route....Skal has more skill than WCS just not enough heart and butt. Stay 3 years Skal, give your best in practice next year against the best. It could make you millions.
Skal will be drafted on his potential and be gone after this year..

For everyone wanting all these guys coming back next year, where do you see them getting minutes? Do you think the incoming freshmen will sit and let these guys play, will Cal platoon again?

One of most ignorant posts in the history of this board. I could give you dozens of NBA players who didn't get good until later in their college careers, and this guy wants to give up on someone after 11 games. What a complete joke of a post.

Then keep scrolling bruh. It's my opinion, you have yours. Skal to this point has been an absolute bust. Get asshurt more please rofl

No one is keeping Monk, Fox, or Adeyabo off the floor next year ... I doubt he platoons for the simple fact that next years class is just that much better.

I trust Cal as well. That's why I trust how he feels about Skal after seeing him not start and only get 10 minutes off the bench yesterday. Cal knows Skal is, unfortunately, a non factor right now.

Skal being a decent kid has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Being a decent kid DOES have a lot to do with it. He will do all he can to do the right thing. Dismiss if you want, no biggie. You are fooling yourself if you think it doesn't.

Look, I'm glad Skal is a decent kid. That's the type of kid I want at UK and representing our program.

Being a decent kid, however, is not what's going to make or break him as a basketball player. Being a decent kid doesn't win games or get you drafted.

There's nothing that guy said that isn't true. He's absolutely dead on. "Myth" is a great world to describe Skal. He is miles and miles behind where WCS and Lee were when they came to UK -- and those guys were obviously three-year players. Those guys were mature enough to understand their abilities (and weaknesses), and now WCS is a legitimate NBA player, and Lee will get a serious look.

If Skal is willing to stay three years and bust his rear in the gym, he might play in the NBA some day. But based on what we've heard, that isn't likely.
Miles behind where Lee was? Not at all, Lee has been bashed as much as Skal on here over the years. People here were saying he'd never play much or be a factor.

But it DOES make him MORE receptive to getting better. It's really not more complicated than that. He will or he won't but being who he seems to be character-wise gives him a much better chance at success...

It's interesting that that scout sees the same things we've been saying but he's actually more adamant about it then our worst trolls. "Paper Tiger" is a good description.

It's amazing to watch the piling on as it goes on about a UK player...
