My older brother is a big UT fan and a big Grizzlies fan. He was pretty upset that the Grizz weren't able to get Josh Richardson. He thinks Richardson will be a "solid NBA player," while Andrew Harrison has "No NBA skill," and that, "he won't last 2 years in the league. He may never even see the court."

What are the thoughts of other Vol fans and UK fans alike? Who do you think projects to be a better NBA player and how do you think Andrew will do in the NBA?

As a UT fan, sure he didn't mean his UT coach won't last two years in Knoxville?

Andrew will have a career in the NBA whether a UT fan thinks so or not. He will be a back-up that works very hard, IMO.

I don't even know who Josh Richardson is. He probably played for UT. Smh

Richardson is a 6'5" shooting guard that played for TN. He finished the season with 16ppg and made 36 percent of his threes. He was selected 1st Team All SEC by both the coaches and the AP, and was an All SEC defensive selection as well as a Lefty Driesell All Defensive Team selection.

I am not looking for just pure dislike of UT or of this opinion. I'd like some actual discussion on how well you think Richardson would do as a pro, and how well you think Harrison will do as a pro. Why do you think one will be better than the other? What does Harrison bring to the table that Richardson won't, etc.? Thank you.

I feel like I keep up with college basketball pretty well and I know most of the better players in the SEC and around the country. I don't remember ever hearing the name Josh Richardson. Sorry.

Someone else will have to do that because I never followed Josh Richardson. The kid played on a terrible team. Who is to say Andrew couldn't have scored 16 ppg playing for UT last year?

What I can tell you is 6'5" to 6'6" PG's don't grow on tree's. I personally believe Andrew will make a solid backup PG in the NBA. He's not going to get hacked and fouled when he drives to the basket, because they're going to call it a foul in the NBA unlike college. Andrew got glowing reviews in the NBA combine during the scrimmages which is another good sign.

Who drafted Richardson?

I think Andrew is underrated.

I would like to see his stat from second half of the season. I think that would have garnered more attention and would have been first rounder. Also he made some bone head comment at the loss of Wisconsin, and supposedly during an interview.

I believe he'll be solid PG, most likely as a backup. He'll work hard to prove people wrong.

Andrew made huge strides over the course of his Soph year. He actually started looking like a pg towards the end of the year, the ? mark is going to be is he going to continue to improve over the course of next season and the next? Or has he reached his limit?
I do not think he is a starter and he is much blessed to even be chosen in the 2nd round. What will tell the tale is how he is able to defend other pg's in the league.

This is considering the second half everything past the South Carolina game:

During the second half Andrew scored 226 points out of his 364 for the season. That is 11.3ppg. During that time he made 23 three pointers on 54 attempts (43%). He has 63 of his 139 assists during the second half and had 25 turnovers and 20 steals. He had 34 rebounds in those games 1.7 per game. He was 65 of 154 during the second half, or 42 percent from the field.

Comparing to season average:
9.3 ppg @ 38% shooting, 79.2% FT & 38% 3Pt FG, 2.2 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.0 apg, 1.6 TOpg.

From your analysis
11. 3 ppg @ 42% shooting, ?% FT & 43% 3pt FG, 1.7 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.3 TOpg

That would have gotten way more attention.

I think Andrew will stick as a decent backup in the league honestly. I think he'll keep getting better. But I also think Josh Richardson has the better chance to become a "good' player. You know like a starter. I don't think he'll be an all star or anything though.

Richardson is very good player. He has a chance to stick....needs right situation. He has size and good scorer, very versatile, and tough kid. I like him but you never know in the league.

IMO Andrew Harrisons major problem sticking in the Pros is going to be defense. He was a mediocre defender against even college guards. Combine this with the fact he is not a lights out offensive player and we have serious doubt he is in the NBA any significant amount of time.
