National Championship Game/Second in Ratings Only to 2014 Title Game!!

Pretty shocking considering last year's game was the lowest ever and the 2018 one was highly-watched too. When you look at the ratings, it seems Bama was the biggest local audience but nationally, you have to think Georgia was the selling point as they have not won before.

Still, weird that the title game last year sucked with OSU's national popularity but I imagine exhaustion from the covid BS really played a part with everything,

I'll be honest...I get the same 4 teams getting in with Bama, Ohio St, Clemson, Oklahoma and recurring 2nd SEC team is getting old.

But if title game was Michigan vs. Cincy....I wouldn't watch that baloney and I think the national audience would have been worst of all title games.

I’d imagine shortened seasons, lack of games played into last year. OSU played 5? Regular season games. I think a large portion of the population felt they should not have even been in. Typically Bama/OSU would be huge for ratings.

The four I was rooting to make it were Georgia, Michigan, Cinci, and OK State just to have something different. It's always a great time when Alabama is not in it which has only happened once.

Birmingham market is one if most watched football markets. Even non bama games.

But, I think people had a feeling there was a good shot nick gets beat-- personally I think a repeat of first game was coming up until the moment jamison Williams went down.

Interesting as the Paul Finebaum show said this years game was the second worst ratings since the CFP was created. Said it was second only to last years game which was obviously effected by COVID
