You make some sense. I just want someone who has UK and winning and representing the University as their main priority, considering that’s the job, and of course atleast being in serious conversation for the title run every year. Not none of this “well the potential is there if only” crap.

My hunch is that Pearl ends up at Louisville after this season. UL is a better job than any SEC school not named Kentucky.

I think Oats has the smartest offensive philosophy and makes sure his players adhere to it. He runs a dribble drive offense the way Walberg envisioned it. Defense doesn't seem to be a strong suit of his (a la' Billy Donovan at FL). And also, I have never really felt like he gets his players to play hard enough all the time.

Of course you’d want Oats to be the coach. For one thing that would mean CCC was gone which is good enough. I won’t even dignify the responses complaining about Brandon miller because not cal nor any other coach for that matter would’ve done a damn thing different than he did. I'm not an Oates fan, I don't think he has the chops or the personality to coach at UK, but there was no shortage of fans that believed Calipari was a cheater before UK got so bad they were willing to look past it

Fact is Oats had the #1 overall seed last year and lost in the Sweet 16. I don't think his style is conducive to winning a title. It will win him the SEC, because you can still win the league if you have a few off shooting nights over the course of a season, but shooting well enough to win six straight when you shoot 30 3s per game is highly unlikely in my opinion. His team showed that last year.

It would probably be exciting for a year or so while we had some fresh blood in the coach's chair, but after a few early tournament exits I think people would be ready to move on.

If he wins the SEC regular season this year, it will be 3 of the last 5. At Alabama. Not Kentucky. Alabama.

Im in the camp that there's almost no chance Hurleys gonna leave UConn for UK. We would've had to make that decision years ago. I mean sure by all means call him along with Brad Stevens Billy Donovan and Jay Wright. there's a similar chance for hiring them

Dan Hurley hasn't proved him self until the last several years. So I think this is the year he has made the list of candidates.

Pros: He gets good recruits at the biggest football school in America, imagine what he could do here. He coaches a fun basketball style and gets the most out of his guys every game.

Cons: Brandon Miller (this alone makes me want any of the other candidates we can land). Also his style, while fun, leads to one bad game = out in March

As for the what has he done crowd: Bill Self is the best coach in the game currently. What did he do before Kansas?

Oats is a good coach. I doubt he could handle the non basketball aspects of UK.

He’s not as good a coach as Cal.

But if we had an opening he would be worth a look.

The reason Cal needs to go is because he doesn’t put the university first.

Not a knock on him. He said he didn’t when he was hired. And never said different over 14 years.

The next coach needs to be UK first. If that’s Oats then let’s see what he can do.

The OHC will want him gone in 2 seasons or less.

ANYONE is a better coach than ccc. He had his butt handed to him Saturday by Few. Few ran the same play basically the entire 2nd half & the great ccc NEVER made an adjustment. Even the announcers were questioning why he didn't do anything. Then up 3, Few again showed ccc how to coach, FOUL do not let the opponent get off a 3 point shot. If you can't see how INFERIOR that ccc is, then I have no idea what you are watching. ccc is the WORST coach in any Power 5 conference.
