It sure seems like someone in this scenario isn't going to get the playing time being promised. You have 3 PFs coming in and another SF who is ranked right there.

Maybe none of them care. But I think you could look at a scenario where someone opens their recruitment back up. Weve seen it happen before.

No doubt. For the 10-15 years that Duke has been recruiting the most elite prospects and occasionally having guys being recruited over, 1 has decomitted (Mgbako) a couple years ago when Filipowski came back.

That Mgbako was a big one.. and this situation seems more similar to that, than say recruiting the #2 PG in the nation while having a 4-star PG already on the roster. These are 3 PFs and 1 SF (along with whoever else might return on the roster) all around the same in ranking.

Maybe it's returning players who might opt to transfer? But my guess is something will give. I'd be shocked if a 5star PF stays committed to Duke when he's about to get 10 minutes of playing time, unless he's been lied to. Feel free to bookmark this topic and we can revisit, because i bet someone takes off, recruit or current player.

The only way that can work is if that company that paid a lot of Cal’s salary donates the money they are saving into the NIL.

Who DOES pay for a lot of a coaches salary? I figured it was just from the school. Is it portioned out more?

I just have to believe if UK or the Crafts were fine paying a coach 10mil a year to LOSE games, we should be able to take 2mil of that and spread it around for players. I wouldnt send it all to one guy. But maybe up each NIL offer by some percentage. We offer 250k more to a guy like Ament.. and we offer 50k more to a guy like Travis Perry. With the notion that when players have bigger roles, they would get more.

Now eventually, if Pope proves he's the real deal, he will get closer to that 10mil.. but when that happens he will also be a proven coach who might be able to recruit guys without the big NIL deals.

But right now, we could sure use some funding to get things going. I'd like to see us land one more top10 guy (like a Caleb or Ament) or, throw that money at the top portal transfer we want. And maybe we are doing this but just losing put for weird reasons, idk.

We don't have to get a top 20 player, a couple from the portal and a top 50 player to go along with what we have. We have 3 in the top 30 now, Kenny walker was like number 75 best player in the country his senior year. Billy Thompson who went to Louisville was like top 5, we know how that turned out.
