NATE AMENT RUMORS $$$

I'm concerned Ament will be Skal, a player with very good potential, but not yet with the body to match it. Or worse, Bradshaw.

I like Ament as a talent, but I'd much rather pay Alvaro 1 mill than this kid 2-3 if that's the rate.

Kid could be Kevin Durant, but he could be Bradshaw or Skal as well.

If we don't have to overpay, I'd also prefer JQ to him as a big.

Hope this is correct. Cals roster will be the epitome of what has caused his downfall. Lots of talent but pieces don’t fit . He will have an absolute logjam at the wing and not enough basketballs for the players wanting shots.
If Ament goes to Arkansas some of those wings will have to leave. Personally I believe he goes to Duke. He and the bigger Boozer twin will step right in to get the minutes and shots Flagg and Kon got.

Call me crazy but I don't want him... too much drama IMO... plus I can't imagine Mitch letting UK spend 2 -4mil for him...

1 Year and gone like a fart in the wind.

I would assume Richmond and Knox would return for sure. Neither IMO would get drafted and both have strong connections to CAL and Kenny Payne so I do not see them entering the portal. Thiero I think goes to the draft, and Brazile hits the portal. Hard to tell or determine what Ament and his camp views as top priority. Rather it´s money or playing time.
Ament is about the money. Trilly called that out months ago.

From what we've seen, it appears Ament will be considerably out of our single player price range. I'm fine with that. Assemble a team, not a supporting cast. Not even the great Cooper Flagg could deliver a championship.
This is short sighted. And actually the exact wrong approach. Flagg didn’t melt down the last 2 minutes.

If you think Ament is that type of Dide you absolutely pay him. You can’t be an egalitarian coach when it comes to paying. Or else you ole have 8-9 good players whose ceiling is always the sweet 16.

I didn't say Flagg melted down. I implied a team led by one superstar wasn't going to win a championship, and that you need an actual team. And a deep team without a Cooper Flagg just beat Duke and is about to play for a national championship against a similar deep and well rounded team. I don't think I'm wrong. In fact, I don't think your logic works, at all.

You think Flagg couldn’t lead a team to a title because of what happened the last 2 minutes? Makes no sense rationally. You can’t let a few plays influence the bigger picture. 1 seed, dominant, in the perfect position. Thats what you want.

First off, Flagg lost more games in the closing seconds than he won. That's a fact. Again, you're missing my point. It's not about Flagg. It's about having a well rounded team vs a team that relies on a superstar. As a Kentucky fan, I want Pope to spend our cash on a well rounded team of known commodities than spend it on an unknown. I believe my logic is better and a safer bet. And besides, Ament ain't Cooper Flagg anyway.

Maybe they can, but are against the idea? I know I would be against spending that kind of money when these players are there to get an education. It's why some of the better coaches retired.
Adapt or die. We can be against it all we want but it’s the reality of things. I’d say dinosaurs were against the comet that hit the Yucatán peninsula as well….

I thought this board was really unhinged, but the stuff I see on Facebook is really crazy.

In any event, his price tag is like $4 million apparently. I just don't see how a kid with that frame holds up in today's SEC.
I agree but it doesn't hurt to ask- all it takes is for 1 team to think he is worth it and hopefully it is not UK

I think you and I probably agree a whole lot on how to construct a college roster currently to chase a championship. But I have to admit that Flagg was probably the best all-around player in CBB this season given the effort and motor he played with. And his coach was the one that put him in the late game positions where he failed (repeatedly, I'll admit). Just really poor decision making/play calling on Scheyer's part, I think. Still, I would NEVER want my team led by or be heavily reliant offensively on any freshman - Flagg included.

While some on here are saying what THEY think would be great fits, Pope is missing on players left and right. Better hope the issue we're having is NIL.
We have no idea besides the one point guard which was a miss 100% who else he has missed on. We and none of the so called experts reporting are in the meetings, in the room with Pope on these targets. Pope has met with over 30 guys or reached out to 30 guys is a better statement, he was not trying to get 30 guys. Not sure why we worry about this more than all other fan bases. No matter how much we worry (me included), we will get the players we get. Pope will have to roll the dice, make it work and try to put a product out there to Win the SEC, SEC tourney and NCAA tourney.

One guy that does not care what his base thinks is in the championship tonight with mostly was less rated players than Florida. Sampson goes after guys that fit what he wants to do period. He does not care about *s or what anyone else thinks about his guys. I think Pope is trying to be the same way. Again think because we are on the outside looking in.

There is no need to say that none of us know. It's obvious that none of us know, but are we going to sit around talking about what we're having for supper, and what episode of The Waltons we're watching? It's just conversation, nothing serious.

One of our cats is getting fat from all the Sheba snacks. I finally got my husband to believe me when I had him hold the cat in front of the mirror.

I think Skal would have been decent here if not forced to be a back to the basket 5.. In the few times he played the 4 he looked way better than when he was the 5..
Yes, it was a mismanagement by the entire coaching staff. It works when KAT has the frame and he can benefit from being back to the basket.
But Skal had the makings of a smooth stretch 4.

We went through this for 15 years. All of those guys will leave. Its what Cal's players do. And we arent talking portal.
Wouldn't that be a kick in the gut for Cal's freshmen to start staying multiple years after even marginal players leaving after one year at Kentucky under him?
