I think he's just waiting for Cooper to officially declare.
From what we've seen, it appears Ament will be considerably out of our single player price range. I'm fine with that. Assemble a team, not a supporting cast. Not even the great Cooper Flagg could deliver a championship.
He is still waiting to see who leaves the teams and who else they sign.

Pony up big for:
- top 5 freshmen, or maybe a top 10 freshman who is a great fit
- Portal studs who make us dangerous next year
- Portal almost-studs who have multiple years of eligibility
Pony up medium for everybody else.

He might also be looking at what Isiah Evans is doing as well.. who i know isn't the same position, but he will take up wing minutes, and Dukes already got two other premier forwards coming in.
It really makes no sense for Ament to go to Duke at this time, even if Flagg leaves. He's probably just trying to see if they will pay him $2-3mil regardless.
Ament's best fit is Arkansas.
Especially if they lose Thiero, Brazile and possibly Richmond. They are the team on Ament's list with plenty of minutes and PT remaining.

Seems to be a diva. Would gladly take him but not at the rumored pricetag.
The final four primarily consists of old men, not freshman superstars.
If he is okay with a backup role I'm okay with getting him. I think he is just too frail to rebound and play good defense. And yes I know it would be hard to play him backup minutes for what his nil price is. I'm hoping the Spanish kid gets the bulk of pf minutes.
This seems to be the only school on his list that will pay him above his likely worth and should have all the minutes.
Ament might not be doing himself any favors, on one board I seen a person that Ament may not announce until the last week of April. One would have to think schools might actually move on instead waiting that long. I seen in an interview that he wants to see what portal moves schools make but at the same time how long can schools get plucked out of the portal waiting on an Ament announcement.
Not sure any of those are leaving.

I would assume Richmond and Knox would return for sure. Neither IMO would get drafted and both have strong connections to CAL and Kenny Payne so I do not see them entering the portal. Thiero I think goes to the draft, and Brazile hits the portal. Hard to tell or determine what Ament and his camp views as top priority. Rather it´s money or playing time.

Yeah, we don't need any divas. That's one thing I lIked about this past season's team. They all seemed to get along and work as a TEAM, maybe once in a blue moon, someone would try to be the man, but I think that only happened when we were down a lot and the thought was there "maybe I can help get us going". But I don't think it lasted long. I don't think it was ever " I need to get MY stats up", but just trying to help the team.
I’m seeing him as basically consensus top 5 on mocks, I think you make a strong ass offer (2-2.5 mil) and make whoever gets him have to pay him double what anyone else in the locker room is getting.

I think it is a big gamble to over pay for a kid that is a wing and rail thin. It is different in High School he can get to his spots on college they won’t let him get there easily.
All of Duke’s freshman were college ready body wise. They could absorb and give it. You don’t see many freshman a having a significant impact. Flagg is different and have to be careful project his success to others.

It’s not about “fit”, it’s about $$$! If St. Peter’s wants to deliver the proper bag, he will go to St. Peter’s… But in my opinion, he’s Duke’s to lose at the 3 spot, with a Boozer at the PG1, and the other at the 4 spot.
Guys Pope is not going to throw bags of money around for kids. If Ament is choosing KY due to money not the way pope does business. I appreciate it, and am all on board with that. They will pay the market but they are not going to set the market.
