I heard AJ got 5. Nobody knows. The deal includes a base salary of $5 million, plus additional money from Nike and Red Bull. For reference Flagg reported to be the highest this year at 2.9 million so I’m sorry Ament isn’t worth over 2 million.I've heard that it's 3 to 5 mil. And you're right, who knows if that's true. But word is that AJ Dybantsa got 8.5 million to go to BYU. So other top10 recruits I'm sure are aware of roughly what the market is, and are starting there.
The most I could stomach for a top10 freshman is 3 mil, and even that I dont like. Top portal players, up to 2 mil? In that range I guess. Top50 freshman, 1 mil. Everything after that is in the 6 figures. If you're not fogured to be a 6th man or better, your NIL probably shouldn't hit 1mil.. but that might very well put us behind other schools so who knows.
You get ament, then you go all out to get a good PG and Physical front court player for next year. This is also assuming, oweh, garrisson are backI think Ament is around 2M, which is reasonable.
Most analysts thinks he winds up at Duke. https://ukwildcatswire.usatoday.com...entucky-wildcats-sweep-tennessee/78438623007/Where is that coming from?
I’ve watched 3 of his games now since Kentucky has ramped up the interest. Very good offensive player, can score at all 3 levels. He is rail thin though, and will have to add on weight for sureHonest question, how many people on here whether positive or negative have seen Ament play? Not highlights in person

And that is a good point…Noah with be better next year
I always get a chuckle by this comment.. The Bag... This statement is not true and what is "THE BAG" Either he wants to play in our system and make some cash or he doesn't and wants it to be all about him. We already had 15 years of all about "HIM" You can go watch and be a fan of Arkansas if that is what you want. If he WANTS to be here then by all means open arms. Otherwise he can hit the bricks.Kentucky needs to offer a bag. If they do they get them. If not, he'll go elsewhere.
So TRUE>Stockholm syndrome on freshman superstars at UK.
Yes we will and a bigger stronger more experienced player to boot. .. Not College basketball from 15 years agowe may not get a better portal frontcourt players than ament from portal
Remember we do not have covid transfers and choices are more limited
And Ament I believe has similar level with frosh version of randle. So he will be better than most frontcourt transfers
And I always get a chuckle by the comment, "If he wants to be here..." followed by some rationale that points to guys choosing Kentucky from a puritanical, non-NBA motivated, non-financially motivate position.I always get a chuckle by this comment.. Some posters can't handle the complexity of what you're suggesting. The idea that solid portal transfers surrounded by a few very good freshmen is something they reject because they haven't seen it yet. When they do, they'll know it works, but until then they'll just screech "OAD cannot return to Kentucky!" like mindless banshees.Again, you can check potential portal candidates for frontcourt, not many will be better than freshmen Ament.
There will not be Covid 5 year senior anymore.
If you have chance to get likes of AD, Towns, Zion, Bachelo, Jabari Smith, Brandon Miller, Flagg, Bailey, just get them as hard as possible, even if they are OND. These types of players can produce a lot.
Yeah, why should we care about any particular $$ amount that a player receives. The issue is using the NIL budget (which we don't know) to put/hold together the best team possible. The dollar amounts being thrown around are relative. So, I don't see why I would say "I wouldn't pay $X for this player" unless I knew the impact that dollar figure would have on putting/holding the rest of the roster together, etc. But now discussing relative values I can understand, such as "this player should have a higher value and priority than that player" kind of assessment. The only way you go out and pay this kid 3-5 million is if the boosters and club blue will have enough to fill out the roster with good players and still have the depth of a 10-12 man rotation.
If NIL didn't exist the Boozer's still go to Duke and probably Nik K. also. And I always get a chuckle by the comment, "If he wants to be here..." followed by some rationale that points to guys choosing Kentucky from a puritanical, non-NBA motivated, non-financially motivate position.
You know what? Every single high-level guy we've recruited in the 40 years - be it Delk, Sheppard, Mashburn, Mercer, Turner, Hayes, etc. - came here, in part, because they wanted to use UK to get to a better position financially someday.
If Ament comes here because we outbid the rest of his potential suitors, it doesn't make him any more self-interested than the guys who came before him. It merely highlights that the means to doing that have changed.
Your perspective is severely limited, especially the silly line about "watching Arkansas" simply because your view isn't expansive enough to fathom how all of these guys want the same thing at the end of the day.
Cal didn’t want Broome because we had Oscar. He didn’t know how to coach two guys that good nor how to split the time so he let Broome go. Huge mistake. Cal’s promises to players always bit the team in the ass. Screw Cal. Worthless POS that can’t coach a lick.If he had gone after Broome, what makes you think he would have chosen us? We have to understand every kid available is not ours to lose. Broome may have been an Auburn fan growing up. By the way, we had the best recruiter in the nation two years ago. Unless you don't think Cal would want him, why do you think Pope would or could have recruited Broome to Lexington? I really think Coach Pope can and will be a good recruiter, but it is foolish for us to expect him to out perform Cal in recruiting. Kids today seemingly don't care about the name on the front of their jersey. They care about the name on the back and the almighty $$. Kids pick a school based mostly on two factors, $$ and the coach. Maybe and certainly less today than years ago, an instate kid may pick based on the name on the front.

A guy to watch not related to ament in by way. But jones on the postgame show was saying eh thinks a guy from Kentucky currently at another school could/would end up next year. I think he is talking about max green from holy cross. Green could fill the Almanor role nicely next year.
Would love to see this young man come home to play for BBN.
This guy can play here next year
