If the prices for these top10 guys really is upwards of 3mil.. it just doesn't make sense. They're being overvalued in this early wild-wild-west era of NIL. And I think teams will realize that the hard way. It's not going to sit well with Duke boosters if they paid $4mil for a freshman who just left for the NBA after putting up 8pts and 4 rebounds a night on the way to a loss in the Sweet16..

And it's further not going to sit well when you know that you could find a transfer portal who gives you more productivity for 1/4th the cost.
Paying that kinda $ for a freshman seems like a chemistry killer to me. Maybe I'm wrong but you could use 3 million to keep 4 Jr.'s that are early second round draft picks from going pro. Myself, I'd rather have that as opposed to a 1 and done freshman that may get injured.

Recruiting under Pope is one of the main questions I have going forward. Schools are hiring GM’s to take some of the load of of the coaches, I wish UK would do the same.
I agree
UNC just hired someone to handle this aspect
Isn't this supposed to be part of Fox's job?

We have two players from the portal that are injured and both required a good amount of money to get to UK

I'm good with the freshman we have coming in and the young guys on our team who will hopefully come back. I'm more interested in what we get from the portal at this point.

how does Duke continually sign kids that play the same position every year
can't those kids see they are going to have limited minutes
Even if you pick a pig to coach the duke team with that level of talent, that team will still make success

Duke's advantage in talent is so huge...

I would too except Arkansas. They are even more irrelevant than Louisville.
They are relevant enough to beat us in Rupp. Also relevant enough to list them as one of his 5 choices. You can pretend all you want, but Cal at Arkansas will remain a must see game v/s UK. Don't look now, but the last 10 or so games even after losing Fland, Arkansas has played very well. If teams overlook them like you are, they will regret it. Myself, I do not want to see them again this year. Very physical and just a bad matchup.

Irrelevant. One national title in over one hundred years of basketball. I could fall asleep while hearing about Arkansas basketball. Call me when they win a national championship while Bill Clinton isn’t still the president. And, no, I’m definitely not afraid to play them again.

IDGAF what they did in the past, TODAY is what is important. They are a tough out, not a gimme win no matter how YOU feel about them.

Ok curl up in a ball over the Razorbacks if you want. It’s a free country, buddy. 👍
Curl up in a ball ? Don't think anyone will do that, but also not going to act like they are a push over either. THEY BEAT UK BY DD"S AT RUPP. So,,,, if they are irrelevant, how did they do that ??? It is really simple, you are letting Cal being there cloud your judgement of the team and how good they CAN play on any given night. I simply said they are not a gimme win. Nothing more, nothing less. YOU are the one trying to blow it out of proportion.

Bro, you need to relax. It isn’t that important whether or not I fear Arkansas —- I don’t and I sure don’t have to. Have your own opinion and enjoy it. I’m allowed to have my own as well.

Yeah that's the other thing.. how does the rest of the team feel that an unproven freshman is making 5 million, and they.. guys who might have actually won something in college.. are making 20% of that.

Idk, it's just starting to be too risky. A ton of money, for an unproven freshman, undersized in college, who just wants to go to the NBA, and if things don't work for him, he can transfer at will. That is taking on a ton of risk, risk that wouldn't really be as bad for a junior transfer.

Take the advice from Pitino, in the current system he said they are not even looking at high school players.
That works if you know your days are numbered far as coaching with retirement coming up.. You lose your footing in the high school ranks that will takes possibly years to recover from or maybe not.. Then what happens if things change with the portal in the future that requires you to jump back in the high school ranks? But see where I'm going? I do but I typed too much to explain it..
