I propose that every athlete gets paid by the schools they attend. It should be worked like draft picks in the NBA. Except, instead of a gradual decline on every lower pick, it should be 5 stars receive one amount, 4 stars a lower and so forth. These ratings should be evaluated yearly so that if a 2 star blows up they will get paid accordingly. Or if a 5 star doesn't pan out, their NIL decreases. Thoughts?

My first thought is that your idea won't change NIL. Kavanaugh basically said the players have a natural right to NIL. To make matters worse, most states have passed laws allowing NIL.

You can't control how much a person makes on their own name and likeness.

You wanna solve this? Make them employees. They fit every criteria for it anyway, might as well stop being stupid about it. Make them employees and sign them to contracts. Split some of the billions with the people who make it. Sign the bitches too if that's what it takes. But you sign them to contracts that bind them to the university. The transfer portal nonsense is gone.

This nil stuff is gonna sort itself out. I don't think it's sustainable how is going right now.

Yes. Make them employees. I just think that if it was even across the board then maybe smaller teams could compete for players.

Its too late now. You are witnessing the end of college sports. The time to fix it was before all of this went to the courts. Could have paid the players, signed them to agreements. But their greed is their downfall

The time for that has passed. Even if they were employees, the court ruled they can get NIL.

It’s not the end of college sports. It’s simply a period of change, and periods of change are always tumultuous until people figure it out and things settle down.

What’s happening now is nothing compared to what was happening in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. If college sports could survive that, it can survive this. Problems around paying players or transfers are nothing new.

Except your just making them employees , that doesn't stop them from making money on NIL and won't stop collectives
