This is after all a business so let's just get rid of the teams that do nothing but lose money and then the school will have plenty of money to pay the players themselves instead of having to beg for it from the fans. Just dump all of these sports (may have to keep 1 extra women's sport to stay Title IX compliant). Baseball, softball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's swimming and diving, basically anything other than basketball that has both a men's and women's team. Keep whatever the cheapest team to finance for the women to remain Title IX compliant and everything else can go. There, they can pay their players with that money and leave the fans alone.

Edit: Actually I changed my mind and they can do away with the basketball teams too. All kinds of money to pay the football players.

Hmmmm.

They could make all other sports sort of “club” sports, like rugby is at many schools.

I would expect backlash from w/i most athletic departments. Many administrators got their start in non-revenue sports.

I suspect AD’s would fight this idea, and would prefer to ride sponsors and fans for NIL as long as they can . . . even at a loss of some revenue that is re-directed at NIL.

The colleges ain’t gonna pay the players anything more than a stipend. That’s why they created the NCAA and made y’all think it was some 3rd party organization making bad rules that they have to follow and gave y’all a patsy named Mark Emmert for y’all to be mad at when they are the NCAA. They make all the rules.

Sports are an important part of college. Doing away with most of them would be extremely unpopular. Besides, we're talking about revenue sharing which would open a brand new gate to hell. No thanks.

USA would start winning far fewer Olympic medals if most sports became "club" level instead of scholarship based. Those are key for developing talent at the lesser known sports. Why do you hate America? 😋

So is college athletics a sport or a business? It seems there are conflicts like college football is a business and the rest are sports.

Just fleshing out Glenn’s take.

A risky venture, as he is rumored to be a mass killer on the General Discussion Board.
To be fair, that's true of about 50% of the posters there too. That said, Glen(n)n(n)'s body count is higher than most.

As Chuck would say, this is turrible

I do just have to say this and I'll bury it here.

I have read that the reason charities have a donation of $19 or $19.99 per month is a physiological thing at being less than $20. Minimum "DONATION" to club 15 is $25. Who broke the barrier? College football.

Oh yeah. I have an accounting (tax by no means) degree and I don't know this. How in the hell would "giving" to the collective be tax deductible?

glen, you murder young females.
He would have put gum on the upper insides of the corners and let it fall back in place.

Not saying, just saying.

You're an accountant, I'm sure you could figure it out. Just like how you figured out how to deduct the mileage for driving out to the boonies to bury the bodies of all the young women you murder.
