My opinion on the team, and the fans on this board.

Some of you are truly ridiculous. We have played ONE game and you're ready to throw in the towel. How about manning up for a few games. Have your wives get your set out of hiding so you can use them for the next few Saturday's. If we're still struggling then you're welcome to have your pair rehidden and you can commence with your hissy fits.

Was anyone there during the first half of the game? We did what we wanted when we wanted and took advantage of matchups against ULL. We left 14 on the field, one overthrow and an under throw. I believe if either one of those were connections, it would have been a blowout.

I hope you are right. However, as frustrated as you may be over hyper critical fans, some get equally frustrated by the cool aid drinking fans. While some of us may not put as much stock in the first half as you, some of you are not putting enough stock in the second half of last night's game, the second half of last season, hell the second half of our program's existence. I'm not on the ledge, I just believe that a discussion board is for open discussion, not just a ra ra forum where you have to say everything is fine or you are not a real fan.

And at the same time people need to try and understand the game a little more. It's odd the people that are all in on football and proclaimed football fans first still expect basketball type turn arounds. As far as last year, they actually did better than expected. Your no clue fan will claim that mentality is what's wrong, but no, it's the truth...they had several inexperienced players and ppl playing out of position. We didn't even see Bud Depree at his best because he was having to do others job.as far as pout pout uve been dealing with this for 50 yrs..well that has nothing to do with Mark Stoops..he's trying to do what he needs to in the present. He doesn't care about your other eras. Offensively, our back core is good, our receivers are ridiculously good. And the errors with Towle are all correctable. The play calling was good. I mean I don't even think Snodgrass even had a ball saturday. It's going to be there. The defense will improve as the team does. UK fans never get this.

actually, no. Besides Boom's first td, we could not run the ball at all. If you watch it from a non fan perspective, you'll see that even when we were scoring, things didn't look right. TOwles just hurled it down the field and our wr's beat their defenders. That, in and of itself is a good thing, but if that's all we can do, good teams will shut it down and beg us to run the ball. Hell, louisianna shut it down second half.

You would be watching it from a non-fan perspective, wouldn't you? I watched the game again, I seen in the first half, and again, you are grossly exaggerating mistakes. I'm sorry, but you don't pick up 200+ passing yards in a half when you just "toss it up into the air". That's not how it works. I also think you're ignorant for saying that our running game was poor. 178 yards on 26 carries, averaging 6.8 per carry, those are very, very good rushing stats.

You can sit there and say "Oh noez, oh noez, woe is us, one of those was a 75 yard run, and one was a 38 yard run", but that's what running the football is all about. Pound it, pound it, and pound it again until you break through the defense and take it to the house. We broke off big runs because our line did a good job blocking in those runs, and our backs did a good job at finding the gap, or bouncing it out and getting into the open field.
If you believe for one second that South Carolina is licking their chops for Kentucky to give Jojo Kemp the ball again, or any team that UK faces is licking their chops at the idea of trying to stop Boom Williams, you're naive.

I'm also going to add that of our RB carries, the backs carried the ball 19 times for 197 yards. I would think that 10.07 yards per carry from our running backs is considered a damn fine rushing attack.

it certainly is in fantasy football... but yes, you got me. I watch every UK game, had season tix for 7 years, listen to all the UK oriented shows, wear UK gear, posted on a UK page 7,353 times, all because I'm not a fan. Way to go detective!

The first games are always sloppy and mistakes happen but fans on both sides of the coin are in crazy land and not leaving anytime soon it looks like. I'll tell you what disappointed me Saturday.
D-line play- They looked like they were in quicksand all night. Not a lot of pressure on the QB and couldn't contain the backup QB. They were slow getting off the ball. That's a problem, because that's quickness, technique, and timing. 2 of those can be repaired but they are a giant question mark moving forward. If you are go to win more than 4 games this year, they have to make tremendous gains.

Towles- 3 different offensive coordinators would make a good QB struggle but he looks like the same scared kid from the 2nd half of the season. Under throwing, over throwing, no internal clock and still not checking down and dumping off when the play breaks down. Not looking at secondary receivers. He had okay stats at half but UK threw it a ton and the Wide receivers made plays for him more than he was making plays.

Sure, you can throw the first game out, most teams do to a certain extent if it was a good or bad game. You never want to get too high or too low but to act like everything is fine after Saturday's performance is just ignoring the obvious mistakes. See where we stand after Saturday, but this team has a lot of work to do to get to 6 wins.

I always try to avoid these boards for at least a day or so before and after gameday. Too many crazy fans come out of nowhere. We win and fans will come on here and start shouting National Championships.......we lose and fans shout we'll be lucky to win a game this yr.

^P.S. That's a hyperbole.....for all those folks that are licking their chops waiting to poach.

Board is infested with them. homerblue, Bigbluediddy, Rawwwr, dorkmeister, and Ruppsrevenge just to name a few.
Once again, 7 out of your last 15 posts are in threads concerning little brother. To be that passionate about another team on UK's message board, you are a closet dirty bird! You probably cringe in your little tardinal heart when I call them little brother don't you? :joy::joy::joy: Ok now let's cut the [poop] and be civil, we're both UKY :football: fanatics (37 years now for me) and hate the Volunteers first, Cardinals second.
