My limit, when it comes to cheering for the SEC

I'll be rooting for Gonzaga and Oregon. I thought Oregon had a claim to best team in the nation before the injury and like to see them continue. Gonzaga is a good program who I'd like to see respected more.

I think it's more important for SC to make the tourney again next year. The conference doesn't need a championship. It needs consistent winners. If they make it next year, I'll root for them.

I don't have any issues at all. 2:40 tee time today and BBQ tonight.

Yeah, well I got laid this morning, and plan on having a steak for dinner, but these facts have as little to do with my support of South Carolina, and all conference teams, than your tee time and BBQ.

We get tens of millions from our affiliation with the SEC for several reasons. The number one reason being the overwhelming success of SEC in Football.

We have a legitimate conference in roundball, too, and a little success to our immediate South will have many positive effects for the future, and allow SEC fans the pleasure of letting them hear the chant they dread the most.

I hope SC loses by 50.

I'll root for USC. I like Frank Martin.

Most of the SEC roots against us like crazy in basketball though.

But I think it's that way in all conferences. The rest of the big 12 roots against Kansas. ACC root against Duke and UNC.
My biggest question is this: When does anyone else in the SEC, ever, ever, ever, cheer for UK? Serious question.

I don't care. USC winning is good for UK
Agreed. If they do win it all, and I'm not sure they get past the Zags to be honest, but if they do they'll have 1/8th the 'ships we do. They're no threat to our dominance, and it only helps the perception of the SEC.

I'm good with USC winning it. Makes the SEC look better. Plus, I like Frank Martin.

I will root for any SEC team to win a title except UF and maybe UT. UF fans went too far when Donovan was there. They acted like they were our equal. They learned the hard way that they are not UK, but as soon as they make another FF or win another title they will be back mouthing. I live too close to Tennessee to have to deal with them winning a title.

I won't watch the FF, though, as long as UNC is still playing. They should not be there. They should be on probation.
I'm not watching the Cheats game tonight, but I will watch UCS and the Zags.

Anybody but the Cheats, anybody. Which means they'll probably win.

Serious answer: At the 2011 Compass Bowl, perhaps 15 % of the "SEC Side" was wearing Auburn and Bama clothing, and pulling for the Cats.

At the 2006 and 2007 Music City bowls there were Vandy fans aplenty, wearing Kentucky colors, purchased for the games.

In roundball? I don't attend them like football, but the SEC allegiance/branding has been building pretty sleadily, especially the last 10 years, so I suspect there's more support than you know.

Rooting for the SEC doesn't help Kentucky. We are who we are because of what we have done for the past 90 years. We don't need the SEC to be successful in order for Kentucky Basketball to be successful.

Seeding is largely based on who you have beaten. And if you you have beaten a bunch of good, ranked SEC teams.... you will likely get a better seed than if you have beaten a bunch of hapless conference opponents. A strong conference is good for uk.

True for Kentucky Basketball, MakinMusic, but for the University, we need the SEC, and are making heavy use of them, financially.

The massive building of the last 24 months on the UK Campus has been largely funded by use of the massive $$ brought in through the SEC division of money.

Plus, any increased respect for the SEC helps us come seeding time, in the basketball tourney.

Could we have achieved our financial bonanza as an Independent, or in another conference? Perhaps in the "Big Ten," but not likely in any other conference or as an Independent.

We've done a lot in 90 years in basketball, but that just does not support the University financially as some might assume. Our SEC split/funding has increased at an annual rate of 18 percent for 10 years running . . . . and at least 80% of those revenues are from football/bowl divisions/SEC Championship/SEC Network and other T.V. deals.

I want anything with which my University is associated to be considered the GOAT . . . . and the SEC is certainly that.

The Powers-That-Be in the SEC have masterfully marketed a brand and have significant business acumen, much to the profit of our beloved University.

My comment is strictly related to our storied basketball program. The SEC has long been a doormat of college basketball yet Kentucky succeeds and is the winningest program of all time with 8 National Championships.
