If cal lands edwards from WV, he gets zero credit for that. Edwards wouldn’t even be transferring if not for the Huggins situation and still may not. Cal has done Jack shit to improve our roster and doubt he’s done anything personal to improve on his coaching abilities, either way he still sucks!!!
He recruited the #1 recruiting class. Efforts to further improve the roster were hurt by the freshman talent and indecision from Oscar and Livingston. He also added an outstanding assistant coach who will help with player development and offensive scheming.
If Cal thought there was a chance Livingston could come back, he's even more out of touch than I thought. In fact, Cal seemed totally out of touch with everyone on the team last year. We had 4 guys transfer out and I'm sure he was caught off guard by the Ware and CJ transfers. And Reeves won't even answer the phone.
Cal has had the #1 recruiting class for 9 0r 10 of his 14 seasons and somehow hasn’t been to a final 4 in 8 seasons now, this next one will make 9. A young team needed veteran leadership and cal gave them shit. Cal was never planning on Oscar coming back but then prayed he would after swinging and missing on HD. Cal is an all eggs in one basket guy and then it’s oops!!!! Upperclassmen do not want to play for cal. The fact reeves doesn’t want to play here when literally no one on the roster can take his spot is laughable and a clear reflection on what older players think of cal.
Total nonsense. I didn't say Cal was caught off guard. I think players in the portal weren't sure what Oscar and Livingston were going to do. I believe that fact hurt attempts to recruit players from the portal. Furthermore, I'm sorry but I could care less about the Ware and CJ transfers.
Ware is a nediocre college player. CJ is a good vocal leader. He is extremely injury prone.
He also quite simply choked repeatedly during games in general. He missed wide open shots over and over again when the team needed him to play just decently. I like both guys. They would have helped to a small degree by providing leadership to the team this upcoming season. I don't believe the team was hurt at all by them transferring. Oscar came back and stayed for 2 years. Ware stayed for 3 years despite little playing time. We've had multiple upperclassnen play for the team over the past several years.
Uperclassnen simply don't want to play behind 4 Mcdonald's All-Americans.
He wouldn’t get credit for getting a guy to transfer here, I’m not a fan of cal right now either, but when he does something good you have to give him credit(if it happens)
This isn’t a player hitting the transfer portal and choosing to play for UK. If he transfers at all at this stage it’s due to his coach getting canned. All other blue bloods have their rosters set and if he comes here it’s due to no where else to go unless you want to play at a lesser school with zero/minimal visibility. If you want to give cal credit for this (if it happens) then no problem from me for doing so however I personally will not give him credit for a player landing in his lap due to extenuating circumstances after the transfer deadline has officially passed. We may get Reeves back too which also has zero to do with cal as Reeves has seemingly tried every way he could to get away.
If Reeves wanted to be at UK, he would be. He isn't. Reeves knows our team is getting ready to travel to Toronto. If he intended to play a part, he would have shown his hand before this. Instead, he is trying to get eligible to be a grad transfer.
So Cal ambles along with 7 freshmen and 2 sophomores. One of the freshmen has a broken foot. Everyone in the basketball world knows we do not have enough players. Is it laziness that prevents Cal from using all his scholarships intelligently, or are players now so wary of the environment that Cal just cannot convince enough of them? Why are Reeves, Ware, Collins, and Fredrick so anxious to leave? And where is our $2 million staff of assistant coaches?
I have no ax to grind with fans who still feel they must defend Cal. I think they are overlooking a lot of serious trouble, but I will not criticize them for defending a UK coach. So be it. With that being stipulated, how do they defend an active roster of 8 athletes who are physically able to play, none of whom have useful college playing experience? Has anyone seen anything like this before? Ever? This is Kentucky basketball, not a street ball team.

I get that but Kentucky ordering his jerseys and still leaving his locker up means they have to feel somewhat good about him returning. Frederick, ware, & Collins left because they weren’t gonna play much, reeves hasn’t left yet and can very easily return. I don’t defend cal at all, I’m one of ones who says he isn’t good on here, I’m just saying he can atlewst salvage and make the team competitive with certain moves in the next couple of weeks
CCC did not want Oscar back, because Oscar basically called him out last year for all of the yelling. Basically everyone that follows UK basketball & recruiting, knew Livingston wasn't going to return, so why didn't ccc? Regardless, now that players are being paid, college basketball is even more of a business, & business decisons have to be made. Apparently ccc can not make these decisions. He should have told Oscar, Livingston & Reeves that you have a certain amount of time to make your decision. After that your spot will be up for grabs. But could not or would not take that stance. Then others left & he was left with 7 players. He had no choice but to do something at that point, but it was too late. Regarding the McDonald's kids........IF ccc played the BEST players, then upper classmen would probably have not objected to coming to UK, but again, ccc plays those 5* players regardless of how they are actually playing. The older guys knew from watching this for years, that they had no chance unless there was an injury. Boston stunk up the place, yet he played the most minutes & took the most shots & ccc did nothing to help the team. The same thing with Wheeler. EVERYONE knew UK was playing 4 on 5 because Wheeler could not throw a quarter in the ocean, yet he played until he was injured. CCC is a total fraud and has no concept of how to coach. He has no plays, never changes style to meet the players talent - nothing, but same crap every year. IF anyone thinks that CCC is going to allow this new coach to actually coach and diagram plays, then they are sadly mistaken. CCC will never give up control for fear of being proven wrong, even though the game has passed him by.
Typical negativity from a Cal hater. I don't know if Cal wanted Oscar back. You also don't know if he wanted him back. What I do know is that Oscar has praised Cal repeatedly. I think the team will miss Oscar's rebounding. The team will not miss his atrocious defense
I am not a Wheeler fan but he is a good player. As for Boston, he simply was overrated. Askew was also overrated and Clarke also may have been overrated. The coach does have plays.Defense was the big problem with the team last year.
I'm going to be honest. I love basketball but I don't pretend to be an expert. The problem with the Cal haters is they are so delusional that they think they know more basketball than a Hall-of-Fame coach. Hell, the season hasn't even started yet.
We have a lot of very talented players on the team who will be playing for us this upcoming season. The roster has not even been totally completed. Despite those facts, all the Cal hate cult can do is spew all of this doom-and-gloom nonsense. It's ridiculous!
Also makes sense if you go by his list. Either he visited Kentucky/ND on way to visit UW/Gonzaga or he's starting there and would hit other 2 up on way back to NJ. That's IF he takes all 4 visits to the schools who have made his top 4 at this point and as a Grad Transfer he may be more likely to do all 4 visits than normal transfers. (hopefully)

That's his focus, but he is a full, on the court coach. Robic was not. Welch was hired to fill KT Turner's departed spot. Now, Cal can add another assistant under the new rules, should he choose to.
