After seeing the poll of all time greats, I thought a list of the current greats was well warranted. I've got.

Coach K
Coach Calipari
Coach Pitino
Bill Self (gulp)

The fourth was a tough one for me, but right now I've got to give the UKU coach the last spot in. He's obsession with being UKlite is paying off. coach Roy Boy Is a sinking ship and has hit the bottom in recruiting. Boeheim is a joke.

Where am I going wrong?

I would remove Self and put Donovan on there. Getting back to back titles at UF is nothing short of miraculous IMO.

You could argue Izzo as the fourth depending on how far back you want to go. Billy D or Self would also be int eh argument for 4th.

Coach K
Slick Rick ( I just threw up a little bit )
Coach Cal
Bill Self

Others receiving vote:

Billy D I would however he has had some really horrid teams. Tom Izzo, I can see the argument, however I cannot stand his style of play and this is my list so I don't have to! Roy (Tim Conway) Williams, same argument that I had against Billy D.

K
Boeheim
Pitino
Calipari

Donovan and Williams just below. You can definitely argue both belong up before Calipari though.

For the love of god use the young Pitino. A monument is not suppose to scare young children.

John Calipari has a national title, runner up, and another final four/elite eight in the last five years. If he wins it all this year wow.

For anyone to put boeheim on this list and not cal? That's just hilariously retarded.

I don't think Boeheim belongs on the list. 1 title and 4 Finals Fours in 39 years is not very good, but the fact he has only made it past the Sweet 16 SIX times in 39 years is not good at all.

On the other hand, Billy Donovan has 1 more Elite Eight, same amount of Final Fours and 1 more title in almost half the years coaching.

Boeheim is a horrible choice. Absolutely nothing to back that choice up.

Vandalay you are correct. I must have misread that.

But Jim B. Does not belong anywhere near the list anyway.

I can't stand Boeheim anymore than the next guy, but he doe have 962 wins at a 74.7% clip. Like him or not, that's a lot of wins.

Not to mention cal has been a final four coach at 3 different schools. Cal is in without a doubt, rat face, pitino, and boeheim since this is an active coaches thread

In an attempt to soften my statements of my opinions ... I don't think Boeheim would deserve to be in the Top 10. His wins all came in the vastly overrated Big East Conference. He's like Joe B. Hall. You look at all of the talent he had, and you look at how long he coached, and you say, "Only one NCAA Championship?"

Coach K: 4 titles, 11 Final Fours, 1000 wins and counting, done very well in the ACC over the years.

Coach Pitino: 2 titles, 7 Final Fours, went to a Final Four at 3 different schools, taken 2 different schools to multiple Final Fours, etc.

Coach Donovan: 2 titles, 4 Final Fours (at a football school that had done almost nothing outside of the 94 Final Four before he got there). He would be a lock on everyone's list if not for the choke job last year in the Final Four. They should have won that title IMO.

Coach Cal: 1 title, 5 Final Fours, went to a Final Four at 3 different schools, and has by far the best chance of adding to his title count this year of anyone on this list or not on this list.

Others:

Coach R. Williams: 2 titles, a lot of Final Fours (7 or 8 maybe?), but the cheating scandal affected me a bit with him. I also do not respect him doing it all at two of the four best programs ever in KU and UNC, as much as I do Donovan doing it at FL. Plus, what did he win at KU? Nothing as far as the ultimate prize. Bill Self has won one since he has been there and may have won another if not running into an all time great UK team (ala Cal with UMASS in 96).

Coach Self: He does not impress me as much as he does some on here. 1 title, 2 Final Fours...yeah, that is good, but not great at KU in a decade plus now I believe. He has lost a lot to really bad teams and I am still trying to figure out what the hell happened to his 2010 and 2011 KU teams in the tourney. 2010 was the best team along with UK by far, and 2011 he probably waltzes to the tourney title if he gets to the Final Four against Butler and then UCONN. Northern Iowa and VCU...even worse than Bradley, Bucknell, etc.

Coach Izzo: 1 title, 6 Final Fours...has lost his luster of late IMO. He started out really great, had the 3 straight Final Fours from 99-2001, but only won one of the three, and had no legit chance of winning either of the others IMO. His 05 Final Four team had no shot, his 09 team got destroyed by UNC, and his 2010 lost to Butler in a good one. They would not have beat Duke though IMO.

Coach Boeheim: Purely a lifetime achievement award for me mentioning him 8th on this list. 1 title, 4 Final Fours, but he has only been past the Sweet 16 SIX times in 30 tourney appearances. Elite coaches do better than that, very good coaches do better than that. He is just a very solid coach in my eyes, but nothing special like some make him out to be.

I am going out on a limb and assuming that Boeheim is not going to the final four this year with that train wreck of a team, which means he goes to the final four once a decade (on average). Additionally, that also means one title in four decades, which is the exact same as Steve Fisher, Tubby, Jim Harrick, Gary Williams and Nolan Richardson. In my opinion, while all those coaches had their own accomplishments, they are not Rushmore worthy, which is why Boeheim isn't either.

Edit: I can see why some make the case for Williams and I will offer no rebuttal, BUT IF his two titles at UNC are stripped by the NCAA, then he is in the same boat as Boeheim.

I'll buy this. Wouldn't mind swapping Cal in for either Donovan or Pitino, but ... you know ... count the rings.
Yep. "Rushmore" presumably means career achievement. If the question is, who's at the top of the profession right now, you'd start with Cal and Self......
