More pUKe and Arkansas threads than anything

Its always been that way here and it will continue being that way. Our fans pay attention to all of college basketball. And those are two of our most hated (at the moment) rivals.
Cal and his success or lack thereof, will be a huge story on this board for as long as he's at Ark. Just like it was with Pitino at UL.

I understand the Cal stuff. That's going to go on for a while. Just part of our story. But, I will admit, the Duke chatter has been a bit much. It was one game, and fantastic win. Let's move on from it.
Actually, our fans pay more attention to just a handful of programs. rarely "all" of college basketball.
Hence the reason we see regurgitation of the same few teams.
Doesn't bother me much because most of the ones about Arkansas are literally making fun of Cal's continuance of horrible coaching (or whatever it's called).
This! I don't get why people are so confused about Arkansas being such a topic here. I would be more surprised of it not being a topic discussed more often. Remeber the IU ones? Yeah that was many moons ago...
I can see that. Would love to have an "All things other teams" thread but I guess it's useless as nobody would use it. I literally had to sift through and almost missed that awesome video of the Champions Classic.
Some of the Arkansas threads could probably be merged but how about we just let people talk about what they want? You can skip threads that don't interest you and even ignore the thread creators if it bothers you that much. I see just as many posts from ppl complaining about what others are discussing as I see duke/Arkansas threads. People love playing hall monitor/message board police. It's a free country folks. Enjoy it.
We broke down our big win about as far as possible and have been sitting idle for a week. At the same time Duke personalities on TV poked the bear and our former failure of a coach bailed somewhat unexpectedly. What else would you expect us to be talking about? Trading scone recipes?
So take your own advice and skip this thread instead of whining about it. Hypocrisy 101.

I would be in favor of an all things Arkansas thread so our top 20 threads don’t have 10 about Arkansas, just going by lessons learned after Tubby left.
This was a UK/Minnesota board for at least 2 years. The pro-Tubby crowd would highlight every success he had at Minny while the anti-Tubby crowd would highlight every failure. (Legit curious to see if some lurking Cal fans pop out of the woodwork to gloat or say “we should’ve kept Cal” if there’s a Saturday or Tuesday where Pope loses a game he shouldn’t and/or Cal wins one he shouldn’t.)

It’s “all of college basketball” in regards to relevant games of teams in the top 10-15…aka teams we view as competition. Anytime a team is on upset alert it’ll have a thread and conversation. Purdue/Alabama…Auburn/Houston etc. Just so happens that some of those teams are consistently the same programs year in and year out.
Yes…Kansas, UNC, Duke, and UCLA/UCONN will get more run on here than TCU. Those are the closest to the GOAT program thrown…they are our peer group so they get discussed. UT and UL are major rivals…they get discussed. Not a wild concept

I do find it ironic that we create a thread about Duke and Arkansas to complain about threads like this. Ah, but you've answered your own objection. This thread is just an example of how UK fans think. I don't have a problem with this thread or with multiple threads about Arkansas/Cal or Duke.
UK fans didn't just have a break-up with Calipari. It was an ugly break-up. It followed on 4 years of bad basketball where we kept hearing promises of change and improvements, but we kept getting the same results. This last year we had 2 NBA lottery picks sitting the bench to start every half of every game. And then we get to the SECT and get bounced in the first round, followed by a first round exit in the NCAA-T, which followed 3 years of early exits and no post-season success AT ALL.
Despite all of the flameouts and terrible basketball by Calipari and his UK teams, many in the sports media thought UK fans were being completely unreasonable for wanting Calipari to go. So, we want some vindication. We see Arkansas struggling and hear Calipari making excuses and saying the same things he said to us and yeah, we're gonna notice and talk about it. It's human nature. Arkansas/ Cal posts will continue on this board for quite some time, but at least until he's no longer coaching an SEC foe. Get used to it. 😀

This. It’s gonna be a while till Caleb Wilson decides. We had a week off after the Duke game. We’ve talked about the lady cats as much as we could. Talked about NBA cats. Wtf else are we supposed to talk about?

In all seriousness, 100% ok with a mega Arkansas thread that discusses their team and game threads. I agree it can be condensed into 1 thread most of the time though.

Cal did say they have a lot of work to do. May take 2 or 3 months. Pre-season all the media was raving about their transfers and freshmen being one of the best if not the best. Cal said everyone is frustrated but it is going to take time and they are good kids.
The way this thread has gone, you'd think I had said "Don't you dare talk about either team because I said so, goll dang it !!!
I didn't come close to doing that and even put out a 2nd post saying I understood why people start so many Arkansas threads. You are right about human nature: Everybody wants everyone else to fail (weak, but true). I do my best to stay away from that stuff but most get fuel from it.
Yeah, I hope you don't think I was attacking you. I can see how it may have come across that way. But yeah, it's gonna be a bit of an obsession- especially the Arkansas and Calipari thing. It was the same way for most UK fans after Pitino first went to Louisville. Arkansas isn't quite as bad, but they are a league opponent and he will be playing UK every season. UK fans will want to see him continue doing what he did to them, which was lose big games. I'm not quite as obsessed with it, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not paying more attention to Arkansas this year than I normally have. I'll admit- I never listened to a postgame interview of any Arkansas coach until this season, unless they had just played UK. But I've done that this season.
