More Off The Court Problems for Coach Clappy and IU

What about "The Colombian Connection" Hanner Perea? Doesn't he already have TWO drug or alcohol infractions in 2014 alone? Shouldn't he be on some sort of probationary status where association with drug use means expulsion?

Believe Perea has one infraction (a DUI). No direct exposure related to him, I guess, though he was apparently on scene.

I think Dean Wermer might have Perea on double-secret probation, and if he's deep enough into the mix on this one he's teetering on the edge too. Innocent until proven guilty I guess, but on the other hand, too many circumstantial occurances can be enough.

What kind of person called the cops to say they smelled marijuana coming out of a college dorm. WTF.

I thought the same thing.

"Hello, police. My neighbor has set a plant on fire and is inhaling its fumes. Arrest him at once."

Seems kinda silly and pretty much is a dick move.

Pretty sure marijuana is illegal. Why would that be a dick move?

Because its a college campus and the majority of the kids are smoking marijuana. I dont know how strict Indiana's pot laws are, but in Kentucky its just a citation now for possession.

the odorous stench of cannabis detected on a college campus. how odd. better call the law.

Majority? Not even close. But still a dick move if somebody called to report it.

If the majority of kids arent doing it I bet its close.

I'd bet you are incorrect. If you want to say a majority think it should be legal, it's no big deal, they don't care if others are smoking, I would agree. But actually blazing? No way.

Guess we just have to agree to disagree on this one.

I agree with Tru Blu...no way it's close to half of kids actually smoking bud...maybe 25% tops, and that's probably high (pun intended).

Seriously though, wouldn't you have to be high to put up with Clappy?

Amazing how much things have changed over the past couple of decades....the person who reports illegal activity in a college dorm (where all types of smoking is prohibited) is the 'dick', while the persons who committed the crime, violated dorm rules, and violated campus policy are apparently given a pass because 'nearly everyone else in college does it'.

In all likelihood, a student near Cheech & Chong's room reported the smell of pot to the RA, and the RA reported it to campus police. The 'dick' who reported it to the RA may have never intended to get the police involved --- just wanted to report it to the RA and see if it could be handled internally without incident. It may sound strange to some, but maybe the 'dick' who reported the illegal activity was actually trying to study for class instead of smoke weed 'like everybody else'

Gotta love the self-righteous snitch appluading every move the NSA makes while enthusiastically trumpeting the constitution of course.

Yeah you are probably right. Maybe I should have said "have smoked" instead of "smoking". I bet close to majority of kids on a college campus have tried smoking pot at least once

I would have called the cops if I didn't smell marijuana on campus. Could be a carbon monoxide leak in the dorms.

Pretty sure the guy who reported kids for underage drinking in a dorm or smoking pot was still called a "dick" 20 years ago.

It's surprising to me; the IU boards are ready to draw and quarter Davis, Perea, and Crean over this one, and the UK board is generally..."meh".

I know, I know, it's because y'all want Crean to stay forever and many, many IU fans wish he was already gone, but still.

I'm glad it was reported solely because stoners are one of the most annoying subcultures in the country.

Yeah, they get high and sit there. Not bothering anyone. Damn those stoners and their marijuana

We may be a little more "pro-green" than y'all. With the exception of Pope, but nobody expects the pope to indulge in such devilish activity.

Because it's 2015 and we should be smart enough to realize that prohibition doesn't work, and the 1930s propoganda is flat out stupid. Booze is legal, and I can tell you from experience with both that alcohol is far worse as far as its impact on the mind and body is concerned.

It's illegal to rip tags off mattresses too. Would you snitch on your neighbor for that?

Sounds like we may not be in much disagreement after all. Just weren't on same page as to what we each meant.

I was at UK from 74-78. I think 70%+ of all of the kids then had at least tried it. Pot was everywhere. You would go to a rock concert in Memorial Colosseum and your would smell it everywhere. I was in Air Force ROTC my freshman year, we had to sign something that said we had never used illegal drugs. We all signed it even though it wasn't true. I remember in 77, Phillips, Shidler and Claytor were suspended for two games which turned out to be the UKIT for "violating team rules". The rumor around campus was they were out joyriding and getting high. We ended up losing the UKIT to Utah, which was the first UKIT loss in several years

So you lied to get into AF ROTC? You don't fly for any commercial airlines now do you? ;)

Just got back from lunch. I witnessed a guy run a red light. Was going to text 911, then I remembered texting while driving was illegal and I did not want to rat on the guy and then myself. I mean if I text while driving, it is illegal, so morally I would have to turn myself in to.

Ha Ha, No, as a matter of fact, I didn't stay in ROTC. But I am certain that many of my fellow cadets who also lied went on to have sucessful careers as Air Force and commercial pilots. I'll bet most of them when they got out of college and into the real world did like most other kids do and switch to booze.
